    Default coupon trading fees ?

I don't know where to post this question.. i guess no matter where i post something it gets moved somewhere else.. i'm trying to figure where what goes..

anyways.. wanted to see and hear comments from other members..

when you are trading with some members that send you a super long list of all the coupns they want from you .. and tell you i want 20 of these and 30 of those and 10 - 15 of these.. i mean sometimes i get a li st of 20 diff. type of coupons and a total value maybe arround 500-600 $ .. ( and that's just face value not even thinking of double coupon value )

So how much do you think it's fair to ask for a trade ( when you are not trading for coupons ) at the moment i'm not trading coupon for coupon bc i have way to many myself- so i do trade for stamps, cc or pay pal.
Most members agree with that and they pay a reasonable amount or ask me what i want for that and most of them don't make any issues about it .They are even very happy with the deal they are getting .
    But..
there are always some of them that send you a super long list, i end up spending 30-45 minutes putting their " wish list envelope together " when i tell them the total - they are like .. OH.. well i don't feel like paying that much .. sorry for the bother.. i'm not going to take them after all.

I mean.. don't you think that's just a little unfair ? you ask for them.. i spned my time cutting them and sorting and counting them for you .. like i said sometimes i spend about 30 -45 minutes with the messaging back and forth clarifying all their wishes / coupons etc.. and than sorting and packing.. when it comes to paying their end - they just say .. oh well.. i don't want it now.

Please.. tell me - if you trade for something else other than coupons- how much do you think/ do you charge - what is reasonable ?
How do you decide how much to charge ?

I mean for example some coupons i have put up on e bay and for 15-20 of them i get sometimes up to 9.50 ! ( example : free capri sun wyb kraft mac/ or the ' kraft cup 1$/5 tearpads ) each lot of 20 has sold for about 6.50. to 9.50 plus shipping. here they want me to give them 20 of these coupons for like 50 cents.. ??

i get that not all coupons are equally requested and needed etc.. but some of them just have " more value " than others..

    please help

    thank you

and sorry if you can feel some of my frustration but it's just been a busy week..

I see your point and understand the effort you put into it and why you're frustrated why some back out after several PM negotiations. You are forgetting one thing that most people in coupon boards are out for a bargain and you have to keep that in mind. Most, if not all are looking for the lower, if not the lowest, prices they can find; most would go for coupon for coupon trades since that'll cost them just a stamp and both parties get what they want/need and that is the most cost effective for most. Whereas for those with no coupons to trade and they are "paying" for the time to cut, clip or sort, many are looking for the least amount of "handling fees" added by sellers.

If you get more $ selling them on ebay AFTER all the fees, then I suggest you stick to it. I have also encountered types of traders that you mentioned where after they ask you tons of questions and makes you think you'll trade, they will send a PM they're not interested trade. Nothing we can do about it but you can put such traders on your "do not trade" list so you know whom to avoid next time. Good luck!

My biggest tip is that you should reply with your price per coupon for each and ask if they still want the amounts they listed.

I would not spend a second putting together a trade until it is just that... a confirmed trade with agreed upon prices. Especially a big one that is a lot of work.

If someone is doing a big order, I think a discount is a great thing but not all traders do it. Some think well I can get full price from 10 people so I will charge full price to a big order, others think YAY I can move out all of these as a guaranteed trade now so its worth discounting a bit so I do not get stuck with them or keep trading the same q's over and over :)

Yes i agree with both of your comments. I wouldn't be putting a large order together if i wasn't sure about the trade - but that's 'after it was a done deal " .. than they send you another " oh i changed my mind " that happened to me 3 times this week . it's just so unfair to me and my time.
Another thing- when they contact me they know i don't trade for coupons so they are aware of that fact.
Some coupons i get good - great deals at e bay - that's why i list them there. But honestly i have so many coupons it wouldn't be possible to list them all. Most of the time i have a great experience here trading coupons for stamps or pay pal funds.. but there's just this few this past few days.. that kind of irritated me.

I can give a discount no problem.. esp . when it's a larger order etc. But how much lower should i go ? I mean if you have ordered a comb. face value of 500 -700 $ worth of coupons .. you know how many coupons to sort and clip that is ? and than i tell you .. ok how about 5-7 $ plus shipping cost .. and you respond " OH MY .. that's too much.. no .. sorry i changed my mind..

Should i give them all for 3-4 $ ? I mean isn't the 5-7 $ a good deal ? What do people expect to get it for ? that's my question . I mean it takes so much time to get all this coupons, sort them organize - list here in the database, than negotiate each trade some of them keep you 4-7 messages - it's not just 2 reply -messages but i'm telling you some of them send 4-7 that i have to respond to. THAN i get to the putting the envelope together - and mailing it out. So how much lower do they want it for ? I'm just curios .. i want to see what others think.. what is your " bottom line " do you have a % you pay for coupons.. or a certain price.. i mean when i was buying coupons here - last year when i started- i was charged all of the times 10 % of face value and was told that was kind of the " regular " .. and i paid for it.. When you go on e bay you pay even more - esp you get only " 10-20 " of each coupon.. here some ask me for 50-100 of one kind of a coupon- try getting that on e bay . ..
So.. now i'm told that they want a 1-2 penny per coupon ? is that reasonable to you ? I mean you want me to clip and mail to you 100 coupons for 1.00 $ and a shipping cost ? Some of them even offered that low price and didn't want to cover the shipping cost.

Is this a " fair trade value " that's all i'm trying to figure out.. am i really asking for " that much ? .. since i got 3 of them this week i'm just trying to hear from others - that clip coupons- how much do you charge and how do you determine the price ?
would appreciate some input .. just so i can see how others are doing it.

again- i'm thankfull for your comments and tips :)

You will not get what you get on ebay on here...if we want to pay those prices we would all just go to ebay to buy them..

On here most will ask or pay 10% of the total face value of the coupons but if its a really HOT hard to get coupon some will pay more than that. BUT some have stores that will double and triple even those $1 coupons where others like me dont. This is the reason you get more for them on ebay for if they have stores that do this they can pay those prices for them.

Some people dont have any stores that double any kind of coupon at all. I dont I have to drive 30 min to kroger one way to get doubled coupons then its only coupons under .60 cents that double and only so many of each of them in one transaction.

On here these coupons for free capri sun wyb kraft mac/ or the ' kraft cup should go for about .20 each at least for capri sun is around $2 a box (regular price)..myself I would not pay more than that for them becuase you still have to buy the other to get the capri sun free..

What you need to do is on the coupon list they send you go in and use the color RED to highlight your asking price for each coupon on the list and tell them that is how much you want for each of the different coupons if you have them before you even go hunt them down and cut them out. This way they know what you want from the start and know if its what they are willing to pay for them or not. Or you can tell them from the start that you want 10% of face value of the total coupons they get from you is that ok and that you think you have say 10 of each one or something like that so they will know about how much you have and what they will need to pay you if you do.....I know I have a limit as to how much I spend out buying coupons each week/month so others may have also.
Yes tell them if you get 100 coupons that the total face value is $500 then you will have to pay me $5.44 $5 for the coupon and .44 for the shipping...this way they know what 10% can add up to be..some see 10% and think that is not much not thinking about the total face value of the all the coupons they are wantting...

Also if the expire date is close by that effects the price of the coupons also..

Back when I was dumpster diving all the time, I would have up to 20-25 of any coupon. With that high volume, I just wanted to move the coupons out of my house and make a little $. That meant ditching the whole trade based on value concept and offering trades that were x amount per x number of coupons. If they were coupons I wouldn't be using, they basically had no value to me. So making anything off them was better than holding out for a 10% deal that might never happen.

Maybe try that and see if it works for you. And if there are any super hot ones you'd like to make more on, those can be excluded from bulk trades. HTH!

When I first started trading on here I had 99+ $5 John Frieda and free Seattle best coffee. I had a lady who wanted 99+ offered to "trade" me for 8 FREEs I told her I would send 40 $200 total hers totaled about $80. She said no cause she had to spend ALOT of time to get those frees. LOL I have seen alot of people put there handling price on the page. It's a good idea so people know EXACTLY what you want for each item.

i agree with e.ruiz...state it in the list. i look at lists and like it when they list the handling fee. some is 10% of value. some are $.08-.10 each for lower values and up to $.20 or .25 for some higher value insert q.s

and i would not pull nothing for no one without a confirmation of payment. you can put a disclaimer that items will be gathered and clipped upon receipt of payment.

most come here to trade because traders here are cheaper then ebay. ebay you have fees associated that you need to make up in price...here you do not. auctions are free, trading is free etc.

I see plenty of traders who put up a bulk of their coupons (minus the ones that net free items with/without a sale) for 2 for a penny or sometimes 3 for a penny. Since they have thousands of these coupons, they obviously just want them out of their hands and are NOT looking @ the face value of each coupon. Let's face it, it doesn't take much time and effort to cut/clip/sort a $10 Nicorette coupon that are not in demand as compared to a $1/1 Cascade coupon that can be used on the trial size. I see a lot of the Nicorette coupons traded 2 for a penny while the lowest for Cascade is .10 each plus postage. Therefore, you're the only one to determine YOUR asking price for your time/effort. You will likely be disappointed if you ask others since most are out for a bargain price. Take note that there are some sellers who will take any price just to get rid of their coupons, so those are the ones that you have to watch out for. It is the same with complete inserts; others want .75 to 1.00 for their inserts while another one wants .10 plus postage, who do you think people will buy from if they have the same coupons in their inserts?

It is the same way on ebay; I do not believe it is the sellers who are jacking up prices in auctions ~ it is the buyers who dictate the prices over there and they're the ones to be blamed for high bids on coupons.

n2save.... depending on where you are in trade negotiations, if its a done deal with addy's exchanged and they bail... you can leave feedback for that. Pm me if you ever have a question on it. agreed upon coupons and address exchange with a price accepted is a finalized trade. NOT ok for them to bail after that without feedback being brought into it.

Members cannot expect a $2 total for hundreds of dollars in savings. I know I dished out $30 to 4 differerent members last week for rebates. Money well spent :)

When trading coupons for some I pay 10%, for others I pay .02-.05 per coupon. depends on what they are.
