I had a similar experience with a B3G1 Q for Chef Boyardee's Whole Grain Pasta. The max value was $.99, but it was being sold for $1.29. The regular Chef B was under $1, but the Q wasn't good for that. Oh well.
Still is pretty frustrating.
I just wanted to vent this silly little annoyance since its now happened a handful of times.
WHY do stores give a coupon for a free item and list a max value that is lower than their sell price. Its not like I can use it elsewhere to get it truly free.
It just happened at Target with the free Jif to go. Max value $2.29, sell price $2.34.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about getting it for 5c. I'm laughing at the stupidity of Target (and others). It happened last year at CVS a few times. Either lower your sell price so it really is free, don't list a max value, or just say "$2.29 off a Jif To Go pkg" instead of free. LOL - this isn't rocket science.

I understand this with mfr cpns - the mfr can't control what stores sell it for. But when its a STORE cpn and their own price exceeds their cpn's max value....come on! Its not like I can take it to store B that has lower prices.
I get really annoyed when I get a manu coupon for a totally free coupon and the store price is outrageously higher. (powerade coupon come to mind).
I'm not close to a store that has store coupon for free stuff...but I think that is so stupid! If it wasn't target...I'd suggest writing a letter...but Target seems to be worthless writing to.

For stores like Target, the store price is different depending on where you are in the country...so the 2.29 may be the average sale price of the product throughout all their stores.
