OP, I wonder if your brother thinks that this "biological drive to spread their seed" is justification for rape, as well? Or does it only apply to cheating?

Good point - if we're going to be compared to animals, which seems to a subtle idea for those who don't think men are wired to be monogamous (or women either it would follow), then take it all the way....
After all, do animals need consent?

I don't think those motivations are the same.

I think it's a natural thing to be attracted to other women/men. But then it's a choice if ya (men or women) act on the urge.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Yup, animals are programed and act upon that, I do believe. We with higher brains have a crucial component - our brain! - that allows us to examine our motivations and choose if we will act upon them.

Another one who's late to the party, BUT...

I genuinely think that humans haven't evolved at all. We're just as cruel and nasty to each other as we were during the ice ages, we are just better and doing it behind other people's backs, or getting caught. Maybe what we do is different, but the actual drive? No, it's still there. And instinctual brain activity is mighty hard to ignore. That's right along flight-or-fight instinct. Yes, you can override it, but your body still reacts, whether you like it or not.
