If Cara was that old, I'd let her watch and then explain it to her. It really depends on the child, though. If you think she can handle it, then I don't see the harm.![]()
to be to watch a movie about Anne Frank?
My daughter is 8 almost 9 and a bit advanced for her age.
I just got the newest adaption to the Anne Frank Novel on Netflix and watched it last night.
Should I let my daughter watch it? She would realize that Anne and her family die at the end (it doesn't show any of that...just puts up where each of them died , each concentration camp..and year). I would want to explain to her that these were real people.
Is she too young? Is it a good age?
TIA

I was about that age, and advanced for my age as well when I watched it. If you think she is old enough to understand it and would be watching it with her so that when she had questions you could answer them, I would think she's old enough. My sister who is 9 can understand things like that, so I think your daughter probably could too.
Love that story by the way :) One of my favorite books!
I think 8-9 is right about the right age. They are at the age where they can grasp death without being freaked out (of course only you know your DD when it comes to that) and learn the message behind the movie.

Does she want to watch it? because I think that makes a difference too.
I mean bambi's mom dies in the beginning.. and death is a very natural part of life, even tradegy.
I do know that by 4th grade, I thought I was way mature.

I would let her watch the movie! My daughter is 6 yrs very ahead of all the kids her age so I would let her watch it! They need too leard this stuff sometime in life.
I know they suggest 11 for the age to go to the Holocaust Museum in DC... (which has graphic detail pics etc.)but I guess if you have an advanced 9 or 10 year old it'd be okay
i watched stuff like that even younger tho. I remember amovie about the Holocaust that was pretty graphic (a miniseries in the 80's) and I probably was 7 or 8. My dad was a WW2 vte so Igrew up watching stuff like that.
yes, i was his 'old-age" baby
I agree it really depends on the child. I would let my children watch it at that age tho. They are pretty informed when it comes to things like that. So it wouldn't be a shock to them.

Yick. I remember worrying about things like the Holocaust, war, Armageddon, when I was in elementary school. The world is harsh, and they will learn about the awful stuff soon enough. Let them be innocent while you can.

I would let my kids watch it at that age. It depends on the child, for sure, but I think mine would be be able to handle it at 9 with the right explanations.
