Doh! Sounding like meanie in PM

Ugh, I don't know if it's hormonal, but I swear I feel like I'm coming off as a butt, rude, etc in PMs! One nice trader on here I had requested coupons from, wasn't able to accept my trade.. no biggie!! But I think I sounded totally pissed off or something.. which I totally am not. I mean, sure, always bummed when it doesn't work out but SO NOT A BIG DEAL.

Just a general rant about email, PM, text, ect. It's near impossible to correctly read into a message. As a social worker, my client's ask me to email them.. I do maybe 1% of the time. Know why? Cause messages can always come off badly or what you don't intend. Now I feel really bad that I might have upset/been perceived as being rude to this trader.

Doh! Ever have those moments or crazy stories related to that? I even tell my husband to call me rather than text if he needs to tell me something, LOL

I have had a couple of people tell me through the years that I sounded "rude" when I had absolutely no intention of it (on the phone or in person). I think it's just the way I speak - I talk very fast and I have a lot of emotion/feeling/inflection in my voice. I am also pretty straight-forward, some might say blunt, so that may be part of it too.

I think sometimes in emails or PM's people are just short and to the point and that can be interpreted different ways by different people depending on their sensitivity level.

I think sometimes I can come off rude also! I some times joke with people about things! I think some people take me way too serous! Well I gave a lady at justice a 40 percent off coupon she was so happy she gave me a hug! It made me happy that someone was happy about coupon.. I use too offer people coupons for stuff they had in there cart and they still didn't want them. So I don't offer coupons too people that much anymore..

No really - I have had people tell me I sound harsh or abrasive- but sometimes if I am just trying to get to a point, I just don’t think there should be a need to post all kinds of smilies or over explain so it doesn’t come off rude Sometimes I just need to say what I’m saying…

I have also read other’s comments as harsh but I always try to re-read w/ the happy voice behind it. If there is no way that happy voice fits, then yeah - I think they are being a yutz. But if the happy voice changes the tone, I go w/ it and assume the person’s post/message is not meant rudely.
