Not that this is a consolation but if this makes your deductible time to have all doctor appointments/surgeries ect that you've been putting off for the year.
And be sure to keep all that for tax purposes!
HUGS!!! I completely feel your pain!
Holy smokes!! I am suffering from sticker shock right now. The surgery center just called to let us know what the out of pocket portion for her tonsils coming out.... 651.00!!!!!!!
She said it is because we have not met our deductible yet.
Oh well, it sticks really bad, especially since we had much better ins a year ago and he said she was not bad enough yet.
DH is going to have 2.5 cows!!!
It needs to be done, and there is no price on her health, but HOLY SMOKES!! I was not expecting it to be THAT much.

Maybe this will make you feel better--the out of pocket for my DD's tonsillectomy was over $4000 to the hospital and several hundred more to the doctor. Insurance paid less than $500. AND we had the surgery at the end of December 2008, so a few weeks later the deductible period started over.
But like you said, it had to be done.

holy cow. and I thought $200 down was alot for DD4 having hers out a month ago. thats becasue the total bill was over $10,000 and only $200 was not paid for with our insurance. i mean sheesh the bill said it cost DD4 $8000 just for her room for 4 hrs?!?!? and im sure the nasty orange ice pop and ice chips cost $160 ( non surgical items)![]()
My Kids Emilee and Stormyare my world. ..Have you Hugged yourself Today?
Thanks ladies... I appreciate it! I am dreading it as it is, and this shock was salt on the wound...
I am sitting at the park with her while she plays, got stuff to do, but can't say no to her since I know she won't fell up to it next week
OK I don't feel as bad, I was just shocked. I would pay 4000 if I had to as well, grateful I don't. the 651 is just to the surgery center, I don't think we are done yet.
Yep you bet I will save it for taxes, but we usually don't have enough to write off in med bills....
I had mine taken out in 2005 at OLD age. That was back in the day of having a $250 deductible. I think after insurance paid everything I had about $600 out of pocket total.
I dread if I ever have to have surgery again because deductible is now $1000.
Wow, that reeks! The good part though is that she will feel soooo much better and will probably sleep better too.
Our deductible per family member is $1000. sigh . . . .
Renee
I, too, feel your pain. There is no price for a healthy child though. Our deductible, per member, is about $1000 as well. I'm extremely happy that the eldest has a second insurance and that my secondary should be kicking in soon, esp with three surgeries coming up this year.
I know it hurts to hear how much medical stuff is now. I just found out I have to have a stinkin' crown replaced at the cost of $925.
Our deductible is 2500 for the first person...then $2500 for the next one and then the family deductible is met.
My son costs on average OOP $500 a month in medical expenses..and some of that doesn't count towards the deductible.
I really hate medical bills.
