I was wondering the same thing. People are bidding walmart giftcards way past the gift card balance. I just don't get it. I don't get why people pay for free coupons on ebay more than the price of the free item!! For example: a coupon for a free package of huggies up to $12 sells for $19!! Just go buy the huggies then without a coupon it would still be cheaper. DuH!

I don't know it it's true or not but read this online awhile back. It said that people wil buy a gift card for alot of money and then tell the seller that it had no balance on it when they got it. Then they get their money back plus keep the giftcard. It is pitiful the way some people are and it makes me very sad.

Yes, this is why I will not sell GCs on Ebay. Seller has no protection at all from this kind of crook.

The way Ebay is for the buyer ONLY, the seller has NO protection hardly at all for anything.
I would only auction giftcards on here and have done it before with no problems but you could have that here to. That is why it is best to trade with someone you have for years. Better chance on not getting burned.

You can also get ripped buying gift cards. When I first started using Ebay I bought 2 Barnes and Noble e-gift cards. When I received them I verified the balances, all was good so I put them away for later use. But, when I went to use them they told me they were fraudulent. It was too late for any recourse for me so I was just out the money.

I still buy gift cards but I take them to the vendor and buy a new one with it or use it before leaving FB. When possible I also try to buy with the PIN intact but I won't rely on that alone as a safety measure.

Now that's pitiful. It seems like they used the gift cards online to rip you off:(
I read that you have to be careful even buying the gift cards in the stores because some people are taking pictures of the giftcards and then calling to keep verifying the amount on them. As soon as it has a balance they strike and use it immediately. Sometimes they get lucky and are able to use it online before you do. This world is going downhill very fast:(
