Default Note to self: *69 does not identify the last number called, it calls the last number called UPDATE: It was no my fault

And can cause a sticky situation.

The phone did a 1/2 ring at around 2 am and it did not register on caller ID. So I called *69 to get the last number dialed. Unknown to me *69 no longer gives you last number called, so it called the last number.

A woman answered the phone and I asked if she had called my number (gave her the number) and she said no. I then told her that my phone had rang and it didn't show on caller ID. I said that I didn't know what was going on and the phone must be going nuts. She said ok and I apologized for calling so late.

About 10 minutes later, the phone rang and it was a man. He asked me my name, I told him and then asked him his name. He then asked why I had called his number. I then explain it to him. He then said that it had gotten him in trouble and that his wife/girlfriend was accusing him of calling me. I said no no the phone had rang. That I didn't call him and he didn't call me. He then told her to talk to me and she kept saying that he had called me and she would not talk to me.

Crap, crap, crap this woman thinks something is going on behind her back.

So the last number called was to this guy about his motorcycle that is up for sale.

Lesson learned: Never call *69 to get the last number dailed.

Phones don't mysterious dial each other. I agree with the girlfriend, that his number would have had to call your number, then *69 to find out who called you.

If this was about a motorcycle for sale, then maybe you called him and got no answer or left a message, and then he called you and didn't get an answer. If the phone only rang half a call and it didn't register on caller ID then it probably didn't register with *69 service either, and it called the number of the guy selling the motorcycle who may have called you earlier (the last person who called you BEFORE the half ring)
It's 35 cents off of ground round,
    Baby, cut that coupon out!

lol - ok, first let me say how insecure is his gf/wife/whatever if she automatically jumps to conclusions that he's cheating on her simply because of a phone call.

Maybe she has reason to be insecure and he was trying to call another women at 2 am, but had to hang up quickly because gf/wife woke up.. or to put another spin on things, maybe SHE's the one who was trying to call another man at 2 am, but had to hang up quickly and she's trying to put the blame on him to avoid him realizing that the blame is on her.

Wrong numbers do happen all the time.... We get them all the time both on our landline and on dh's cell phone... It doesn't always mean there's something sinister going on.

I remember once back in 1976 that there was a phone glitch/power outage/something weird going on. You picked up the phone to use it and found there was a bunch of people on it. Had the weirdest conversation with folks all over Anchortown. I don't remember exactly how many of us were on the one line, but ther had to be at least 30 different people.

Used a payphone once in Peters Creek because my truck broke down. I was trying to call work to tell them I'd be late. I was dialing the correct number, but kept getting someplace else, another business place that had a totally different number nowhere near close to what I was dialing. Payphone was effed up, I guess.

I don't use any of those *69 or any of those type numbers because we get charged a fee every time it's dialed. Don't have caller ID either....refuse to pay for it. If they don't leave a message, it just isn't important...to us.

So yeah...there can be glitchs in the phone system..sometimes a power "hit" as we call them can make the phone ring briefly. Cell phones frequently drop calls here, so you only get a half ring or two rings and then it drops.

Jealousy is a useless emotion to me. I fail to understand it

*67 is what you dial to block your number when dialing out so it doesn't show up. I don't use it though.

Yep. DH went to his riding club meeting today and this guy is suppose to be there. DH isn't home yet and I don't know if he'll say anything or not.

I hate it happened but sheesh that lady needs a reality check. If someone's going to cheat, most of them are going to make sure it's kept quiet as much as possible. I certainlly would not be calling a landline phone number.

Excatly!!!! While i was talking to DH about this, the phone did a 1/2 ring again. He looked at me and I looked at him and see I'm not crazy. Which he said he heard it do a 1/2 ring the first time.

DH talked to the guy today and found out what the deal was.

The guys wife, got suspicious (sp) and went thru his cell phone and accidently called our number. When she realized this, she hung up which created the 1/2 ring. So when I called the number back (which has been really was odd since DH called the guy, not the guy calling DH so his number should have not been in our phone) she lied that no one there had called.

The guy figured all this out after he called and I explained what had happened, he then realized that it was my DH's number. My DH called him about the motorcycle and not anything to do with me.

So she created this mess and me feeling really bad about last night was all on her. Thanks lady! You, for what ever reason, don't trust your man and called my house at 2am in the morning and having me feel like I had caused an issues in your house due to a misunderstand, was all because you LIED to keep yourself out of trouble. All you had to do was make up some inoncent story but nooooooo you had to blame the innoncent people in your twisted mind.
