How do you do it? Board Moderators position

I have several boards that I frequent fairly regularly, 2 of them I sit on almost all day. I saw on the other board (not this one) that they were looking for new moderators for the boards, so I signed up. I got an email response back stating I dont frequent the board enough. HUH?? I sit on the darn board almost all day ( I flip between that board and HCW all day)
So just how am I supposed to become a board moderator if I am already sitting on the board all day all ready? I guess Im just frustrated cause I have always wanted to do this and I thought this was my chance.
Im just gonna let it go, but I would like a better explanation than what was given.

I don't know what board it is, but as with any group effort, you may not be a part of the "IN CROWD" with the website owner! It may just be a popularity contest or perhaps you've posted something in the past that ruffled their feathers?? Just stay on HCW....it's better here anyway!!

I think it varies with each site.

I have been asked a few times to be a mod on here but even though I am honored I don't have the time and commitment. I always want to do my best so I had to decline. It doesn't matter how many times you post I don't think because there are mods here that only have like 600 or so posts. Now some have thousands. I think it depends on if they got a chance to know you. I am sorry you didn't get to do this. Keep trying and you will get in.

I'm sure the requirements do vary by site..

We look at alot of things when we're placing mods - how long they've been a member, how active they are both on the forum they're interested in and on the whole board, how helpful their posts are, (obviously I'd rather see a lower amount of informative posts vs a couple thousand rants in the HUTC forum or the same amounts of 'thank you's' in the freebies forum.)

Of course there's a few more things that I look at

And also something that should be noted is that I've got a file of anyone that has ever told me that they might or do have an interest in being a HCW mod. So even if someone else is chosen to be a mod for a particular forum, it doesn't mean that person is never going to be chosen for that forum or even for another forum. You never when a forum is going to be available again in the future.


So with all that being said, if anyone is interested in being a mod for any forum on the board (even if it's currently being modded) just shoot me a pm. If you could also tell me what forum and why you're interested and why you think you'd make a great HCW mod, !! I can't guarantee that everyone will be promoted but I'll be happy to see what I can do for you.

I moderated on a heath forum. but then i quit. there was drama involved and my friend that was no longer a member was being talked about and i felt the need to let hr know. that forum didnt like it. I think moderating takes alot of time and committment. I am on here alot. But i dont post ALOT. i read alot.theres alot to read and learn. i think moderating a coupon forum would be more challenging IMO. Specially since you make sure posts are within guidelines and help find and post dels etc. its alot to take on. personally im finebeing a member of the forum itself. :) maybe that other board is just picky. I hate clique(s) (SP). its soo high school.
