Dont do it through the mail. I sold mine last year @ a local high end jewelry store. They will give you the best price. They are regulated by the gov. I got over $2000 last winter for mine! I was shocked.
I was thinking of getting rid of some gold jewelry from when I was married.
I saw on the news a while back that when they compared prices, those online or in the mail cash-for-gold places were a rip-off, but that local jewelers are more likely to give you a fair price.
Here in Mpls we do have a jeweler that advertises that they pay the highest price for gold.
Has anybody done it? What did you get for it?

don't know about this but does anyone else get bombarded w/ the GOLD RUSH ad on tv that swears they pay the highest amounts for gold?
I had a large ziploc back filled 1/4 of the way. Dont remember how many grams total. I was expecting $300. I told my friend & she said she didnt have that much. She took a handful and got $1800. So stick w/ high end jewelry stores and the price changes every hr or so. So you can call the jewelry store and see how much it is a gram or watch the price of gold online.
OK, would you believe my wedding band was stolen off my desk???
My soon-to-be-ex-husband and I have filed for divorce in the last month. The other day at work, I realized I was still wearing my wedding band. I took it off and set it in a tray on top of my desk.
I just saw this post and looked over at where the ring was supposed to be (just saw it there a day ago) and it is GONE!
I have a private office and nobody has ever bothered anything of mine in the past, but it appears that someone stole it. Just to be on the safe side, I checked all over my entire desk, inside, outside, underneath and all around. It's gone. The only real explanation for that is that someone took it.
Well, that sucks. I can't say I was really attached to it since I am getting a divorce and I obviously was careless enough to leave it on my desktop. But still! It's a gold ring and it's worth something. Not $2K by any stretch of the imagination. But something.
I'm disturbed by this, to say the least...
