Sounds like something Kate of J&K+8 would have done. They toted those potties everywhere.
Descriptive enough title for ya?
I'm not kidding on this...I had to back up and do a double take on this one. DH and I took the boys to Sea World today, and as we were leaving Shamu's Happy Harbor (a large playground area filled with at least a hundred families), a little girl about 3 was sitting, pants down around her ankles, on a potty seat in the middle of everything. I simply couldn't believe my eyes. What on earth could make someone want to expose their child out in public like that??
OK, maybe they are germ freaks. But don't you think taking the potty to the restroom (gasp!) and using it there would be the obvious choice? I would hope the parents made it to the bathroom to dump the results once the child was done anyway. I'm just having trouble processing that someone would even consider dragging a potty through a theme park, let alone having their child use it in front of hundreds of people, out in the open.
I just don't get this. I don't think I want to get it. There are just some weird freaking people out there.

guess I am a semi-freak....
we own a travel potty that holds the "results" in a ziploc bag for disposal. I have taken her travel potty with us lots of places...it's always in the car and most often if we are out and she needs to potty I will take her to the car potty. This summer we took it to a small local water park. Now, she didn't use it out in the middle of everyone. We went over by a building and I put a towel up to keep her "modest".
I am a germaphob about public bathrooms and not able to hold her from touching the seat so this is my answer. Additionally bathrooms that flush on auto scare the CRUD out of her.... if she goes into a restroom and sees that they auto flush...she will refuse and just hold it.
people who think they have power and over react to everything..... need a big
....this cracks me up.....
I'm sorry but I totally agree with the OP....even if you are a germ freak, take some disinfectant wipes or use those paper thingys....and if your child refuses to use the public bathrooms...well, IMO, that is a discipline issue....when my children were small....I was the parent and they followed me, not vice versa.
I have come to the conclusion that parents cannot be embarressed anymore....maybe I am just old school, but I didn't even carry their baby dolls, much less a personal potty........now I can see if you are in a car traveling, but even then who wants to take a chance of that stuff getting spilled....I can just see it now...."Billy, here's a tissue...it's under the seat...just get it".......

what that parent did is uncalled for..
THere could have been pervs and lord knows what else... that could have been there. She basically gave them a free show :-/
I might be over reacting but... you protect your kid, not put her out on display especially half naked using the restroom!
i feel sorry for the kid and the mom needs her head examined.
What a whack job! I can understand being germophobic, but jeez. Let's not be giving a free show to everyone and their brother.
That is very strange. I guess that mother thinks her family is the only family around. I would think that is unsanitary for people walking around them. I know if I seen a kid sitting on a potty chair in the middle of everything, I'd keep my distance.
This is outrageous! What happened to protecting kids from sickos?
I had sanity once upon a time I promise. It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it
.
Maybe she has a reason that we aren't aware of?
