QUESTION Recycle Bank - how do you like it?

I recall reading that some folks on here use recycle bank and I am curious what your experiences are.

My town is considering joining this program and I have a basic understanding of how it works: they put a tag on my recycle bins which then get scanned at the time they are collected each week. I earn rewards based on how much I recycle. They anticipate it will cost each household $8/year but that the average household earns $200/year in rewards.

My town already has a great recycling program. We have comingled cans (can dump paper, plastic and metal all together) and it is collected weekly. The township provides the can with lid for free (you pick small or large) and if it gets broken they will replace it for free if you bring the broken one in. I seem to do this at least once a year depending on how careful the trash men are in hurling it back to the curb. In fact, this is on my to do list for the week.

    My questions are...
How frequently are you supposed to receive your rewards (monthly, quarterly, etc.)?
Do you actually receive the reward that you are supposed to get or does it just never show up?
Do you feel you recycle more because of this program?
I know CVS is one of the rewards partners. Do these come in the form of ECBs?
    Anything else I should know?

Our city has been doing Recycle Bank for about a year. The first few months we got lots of points, but the last few months they have dropped off significantly. They award points based on the weight, 2.5 points per pound, but they don't weigh individual cans, only the truck, so you get points based on your whole neighborhood.

They did have some good rewards, like a $10 gift card for 1225 points, 250 coke points for 150 points, and some free grocery coupons, but they started putting more and more limits on the free coupons- first it was unlimited, then one per month, now one per THREE months. The site is so wonky it freezes or won't load half the time I try to go there, so I haven't been on in a while. I haven't seen any CVS rewards though.

Is there a link? I would love to have my city start this. We recycle more than anyone on the street. It would be great to get the whole city to recycle more.

I've been doing recycle bank for about 4 months now- they are awesome. They give you a big can, and since starting I only have 1/2 can of trash for the dump now- I used to have 2 full ones. The rewards are great, too. For me it's $11/mo billed quarterly, and right now I have 900 recycle bank points. Mine does not do the neighborhood as an average- our truck weighs the can.

You get 100 for signing up, and here's a promo code for 50 more:

    My questions are...
How frequently are you supposed to receive your rewards (monthly, quarterly, etc.)? Weekly- they post within a few days of your can being picked up.

Do you actually receive the reward that you are supposed to get or does it just never show up? It took about a week and a half to get my rewards, and they all arrived together (I ordered 9 different coupons)

Do you feel you recycle more because of this program? Absolutely- I was too lazy to take a carload or separate things before.

I know CVS is one of the rewards partners. Do these come in the form of ECBs? No- it's a coupon. Usually a $4/$20

I have a question how do you get the trash can for this program ? Or how do you just start ? I contacted them after joining the program and they will not help me figure out how to do it.

The company that does pickup service for your house has to partner with them. They don't do any actual pickup or recycling services.

If you join Give and Get Free Stuff. - Kashless and save 30 searches you get up to 300 points and then you can link your Kashless.org account along with Recycle Bank and redeem your earned points there.

I read on another coupon blog you can accumulate 300 points every week by saving your Kashless.org searches =D

I just got a flyer for service with recycle bank points. It says the average account will earn enough points to get $20 in rewards a month. Is that accurate?
Does anyone know the limit on gift cards? When I read the terms on the $10 gift cards, it says 1 per month next to that specific gift card. Does that mean only one per month total or one per month each. Example, if I want a $10 GC for Best Buy and a $10 Old Navy can I get them both if I have enough points, or is it one per month period?
