I don't think I've ever seen that on cars...or at least not a lot. I guess it's no different than a tombstone...very few people will see your headstone but if your headstone could travel around and be in a parking lot or pulled up next to others at a light then a lot would look at it. I think it's creepy when people get tattoos of their dead kids. Sometimes it's a rash decision made while they are still grieving and looks bad, like this: Ronald Cummings left home to get tattoo of Haleigh

it's funny you started this thread because my neighbor right across the street has "RIP baby cecil we will miss you" painted on her her on both back side windows. At fisrt I thought it was her baby but I guess it was a friend of their's and they took the 5 week old baby by the feet and swung it's head into a wall and of course it died. Know that I know this I feel two ways one I am sad this happened and two I remember it every thime I see her car. So I don't know how it makes me feel if it comes off (which this one will) I guess it is ok I think I would only do that if it was a car related crash but then again I have almost died in a car crash (I was hit by a safeway truck) I wouln't want my car to say anything about it.

Around here if someone is killed in an auto accident people put permanent crosses at the scene of the accident. I can this as a reminder for people to drive more carefully but I would not want to commemorate the place that someone died. A local woman even put holiday decorations where her son died. I thought it was creepy. There are so many better ways to remember someone that by putting a Christmas tree , etc. along the road. Just my opinion.

Around herer there are roadside memorials everywhere and I have seen an increase in RIP writing on cars since a local pair of underage teens were killed in a drunk driving accident a year ago but they just put thier names only on the decal. Its a small town and everyone know who Ross and Kara were.

Here they talked for awhile about banning the road side crosses because people were getting into accidents trying to look at them as they drove. Don't know if it passed or not. As for the window decals and things, my brother's good friend was killed this summer in a bike accident, she was 23, and him and all his friends have a decal on their back windows for her. For them it is a way to remember her and her life and what good things she brought to other peoples lives. That's not creepy. That's pretty cool if you ask me.

I think the same of the flowers by the road where someone was killed. I told my family no flowers by the road especially if you aren't going to take care of them.

Just to clarify..we were stuck behind the photo for an hour because of traffic on the highway, those eyes are burned into my brain, looking right at you....you couldn't focus on anything but that picture, it was awkward...and yeah creepy! If it had been just in passing, real quick, or just lettering, I would have had a completely different perception..

The car decals are rampant here in the South and have been for years.

It's not as weird as the memorial tshirts. I can understand one for a teenager with a senseless death or the victim of a drunk driver as a means of getting a message out, but "In Memory of Grandma" shirts are just tacky to me. When I die, afford me some dignity please! A nice obituary, gravestone, flowers, and some of those little memorial cards that they pass out at the service...not something to wear while going to yard sales. I'd come back and tell you exactly what I thought of it, and that wouldn't make either of us happy, would it?

To each his or her own, but I find it tacky and weird.
It's not as bad as those "cars nutz," however .
