my cashier earlier this week, wrote on the RR's i'd just used ~ her initials, the words "used" across the UPC code & the date ~ i asked her if it was "something new" & she said "yep, we have to do it, some employes got fired for taking RR's from the register to re-use"

One store in our area has to call a manager each time they accept a RR. They scan it, write their initials on it, then leave it out for the manager to sign. They must have had a similar issue at that store. This is the same store that only allows one per transaction, and I rarely shope there, although it was once "my store" since it's 24 hour. Oh well, as they say, one bad apple can ruin the whole bunch, right?

I was suspicious of an employee taking my RR one time. I bought something specifically for the RR and as I reached into my pocketbook and turned around she was putting something in a zippered case. I could see red writing through the plastic like it was the back of a RR. Then I waited for my change and asked about the RR cause the machine didn't seem to be spitting it out. She immediately said, "Oh, I didn't know you were supposed to get a RR." She had me go to another cash register and re-ring the items to get my RR. That was very suspicious but I didn't report her or anything because I didn't know FOR A FACT if she took it, and I didn't want her losing her job over an accusation. I was gonna get DH to go in and buy the same thing and see if she did it again to confirm, but we were in a hurry. I haven't see her since then, so either I miss her shifts or she's not working there anymore.

I another board, someone said her favorite cashier gives her 50++ RRs when she comes in. A lot of us have to question that because she said its known to the SM and the DM even said it was okay She stands by her post that the DM is aware the cashier is giving away RRs earned by other customers.

If any cashier can manage to give away that many RRs to just one customer, I cannot imagine how many customers do not get the RRs that they rightfully earned. I am aware there are some cat machines that are far from the registers so it is possible that some customers do not realize they have earned catalinas which they do not get after the transaction. And if cashiers are allowed to give RRs earned by others like free suckers, how will the store know if they are not giving it to their family/friends for use at that store or other WAGs to get free stuff? For me, that is encouraging stealing knowing the policy at our stores is to give to customers the RRs earned and if they don't want it, these RRs are supposed to be torn/shredded and thrown in the trash immediately. Cashiers are NOT allowed to keep them for personal use or to give away to others as they wish.

For those working at WAG, isn't it a policy to tear up RRs if customers don't want them? OR are there stores where management allows cashiers to keep unwanted RRs for personal use? I have read stories where cashiers were fired for re-using RRs, so what more if they steal customers RRs?

i have tried to give a cashier a catalina to use or give to another cutstomer because i would never use it... and she told me the same thing..she will just tear it up ..she could not take it..nor give it to someone else.. that and the rr's she said is a firing offense and not worth her job.

Cashiers are to tear up RR that customers don't take. Whether is is a mfg RR or a RR for $ off the next purchase. If your cashier is pocketing the RR he/she should be terminated. It is considered stealing. IF the cashier is stealing RR's what else are they stealing from their store. Turn in any cashier ......either contact the store, or call the district office and ask for loss prevention. I have no sympathy for a cashier that steals RR and looses their job.
sorry to sound cold hearted, but they are messing with my profit sharing/retirement when they steal from the company I work for.

A friend was fired for using a coupon for free water. This is after the manager put the coupon out at the register a week before. She was fired for using it along with 2 others but the manager who supplied the coupon and used it every day got a small chewing out by the store spy.Maybe they really got fired because she has a chronic illness and the other 2 were expendable? Walgreens is no no now for us.

Cashiers/Managers anyone who works for walgreens must rip up any register rewards or coupons that print if the customer doesn't want them--if they take them it is grounds for termination.

We have the manager put on employee purchase stickers on our register rewards with the reciept number they were bought on, her signature, and employee number so when we use them they can never say it was not something we earned from our own personal purchases. I also keep our reciepts and write how many we earned on the top of each reciept as cashiers and managers have lost their jobs by being caught using too many register rewards, and suspision they are using ones they did not earn from their purchases. Many stores have gone to putting yellow Employee Stickers on RR earned by employees to prevent theft, and to regulate employee use. Our managers are great, encourage us to coupon, use the RR we earn, and our discount :)

I had a male cashier try to *steal* my RR before I caught him and told him I would report him. I did , and the next time when I came in he was not working so I asked the other Cashier she told me he got fired I guess there was then just me calling in reporting him.
So sad :(
