Wow, I'm agreeing with everyone here who told you what you experienced was ridiculous. I've worked retail and at a grocery store and what he did was unbelievable. I'm not usually one to think like this, but I would seriously consider filing a lawsuit if I were you. You could be in for a big payday! From the way you describe it, it obviously affected you deeply, not to mention him touching you (whether he just touched your shirt or anything else is irrelevant, the definition of what he did is "assault"). If there's a view of it on the cameras, you could at least have him arrested.

Oh my heck that is HORRIBLE!! When I worked retail, the L.P. people couldn't do a thing, unless they SAW you steal something, and they could only confront you when you tried to leave the store. Like you could stick something in your pocket, and walk around the store with it, and there was nothing they could do, but the minute you open the door, they could stop you. I cannot believe they did that, I hope you take this as far as you can. You should at least be getting free groceries for a while, and not have to use any coupons.

Hoshi, did you hear anything from the manager yet? I'd definitely keep on this. It would have been all I could do to have cooperated with this guy if he got up in my territorial bubble. :)

Hoshi omgoodness I feel for you. I'd like to think had I been in your situation I'd have rearranged his twins for him but I know how you feel you are so stunned at the accusation ( had this happen when I was pulled over with another vehicle for speeding) that you don't say alot. But now is the time to take your anger and sit down and make a list so you do not forget anything when the manager calls. Go over EACH AND EVERY point in your favor here, demand the tape and don't let them pull that We are very sorry business on you. THEY COMMITTED SO MANY WRONGS HERE. I'd be seeing a very HUGE GC and an apology letter from both management and the man who stopped you and I'd settle for nothing less. I refuse to be treated horribly for being a smart shopper. keep us updated

The only thing loss prevention is allowed to do while you're IN the store is ask you if you need help, and make eye contact. Once you leave the store, then they can confront.

I agree with all PP. I would go down in person (maybe bring a friend or DH with you for backup), speak to the store manager and demand you both view the entire tape from when you entered the store until you left. Make sure you hint, in some way, you may file suit. That will get them off their arse to figure out what happened and hopefully get that jerk fired.

I'm so sorry that happened to you. Depending on my mood I probably would have shut down, or turned and walked away from him. If he pursued me.. I would definitely become quite loud.

As kval07 said, you definitely need to speak with the manager in person.

He should count his lucky stars he did not try that with a couple of pp or me.

If he had pulled that crap on me, I would have gotten very loud and made a scene and someone would probably have had to call EMS; throbbing family jewels would have been the least of his worries. About 25 years ago, I was a cocktail waitress. One night, as I was serving this guy his drink, he grabbed my ribs. I know that he was really trying to grab a boob---he had been commenting about how nice he thought they were---he just has a really lousy aim. Later on I'll bet his aim would have been better---at least he would have gotten a real thrill before I unleashed my FURY on him.

I was already having a bad day and night, and one of my regulars had been buying me straight shots of Tequila. Now, I am a very "happy drunk", but, when I drink Tequila---you had better not pi$$ me off. Anyway, he grabbed, I swung, he fell, I walked off to the back to cool off. Next thing I know, all the employees are acting all weird, some customers are backing away from me, and others are offering to buy me so many drinks I would still be drinking them. So, I asked one of the bartenders "What's going on?" He looked at me laughing and said, "Like you don't know." I told him, "Yea, if I knew, would I be asking you dumb a$$." He told me that I broke the guys nose. I told him, that's impossible, I HIT HIM WITH MY FLAT HAND---NOT A FIST! The bartender told me to please warn him if he is starting to get on my bad side.

No he did not press charges for assault---how could he, he started it I was just defending myself. I don't really think he wanted anyone else to know that he got his a$$ kicked by a skinny blonde chick from California.

You can drink on the job? I would be fired immediately for that.:sad:

I am so sorry this happened to you. This person was very unprofessional toward you, and I can almost feel what you are feeling because I get all nervous like that even when I haven't done anything wrong.

And when I do stand up for myself, I get called "*****", cranky, and all sorts of ugly names. I think it's because I'm small.
