DH is employed by the same company but the company that contracted his company let them go. DH is a welder/pipe fitter. It was supposed to be a permanent job with the company that let them go. DH has now had to go 600 miles away to work. This separates us and we only get to see each other twice a month.

My employer has cut back on my hours. We both are very thankful to God that we still even have a job. Many are not so fortunate.

I am a SAHM and sew part time to barter for some "luxury" items. DH works in a field that is recession proof and cannot be understaffed, so he has been ok so far, even getting a fair amount of overtime some weeks. We are very thankful and praying for those who are struggling.

DBF works at a local factory. This time of year is typically slow for his company, but it seems that he's been coming home 'voluntarily' more this year than in the past. He tells me his job is 'safe' since his location is one of the flagship locations for the company and his senority is such that if layoff happen he's higher than the 'cut level' and low enough that he doesn't make enough to be 'trimmed'.
I work part-time at the local hospital while going to school. There is no way for my position to be cut since our department is already bare-bones after the managers restructured the hours so that we were able to cut hours with out cutting employees. With how things are structured now there is minimal overlap and really no leeway for decreased staffing.

I am employed part time waitressing right now and getting into real estate, but my dh is unemployed after being laid off after working at the same company for 11 plus years. :( we are selling our house and moving out of state to be near family and in an area that has a lower cost of living.

I am a sahm who is currently looking for a job to help dh out, hours have been cut back since Christmas so things are getting or have been really rough. I took an online course to become a veterinary asst last year, and wouldn't you know, none of the veterinarians offices are hiring around here come to think of it, around here, no one is hiring, especially those with limited availability, my dds are too young to stay home alone, and daycares close at 6pm around here, SO, those with no hours issues get first picks around here

We are blessed in that DH has worked for his job coming on 2 years this summer and that folks still drink Coke where we live. He has seniority as far as drivers go here and there is not much of a risk of him loosing his job. They are in fact hiring a new driver. Things are a bit slower in the winter but that is to be expected as an ice cold Coke is less likely to be chosen over a hot cup of coffee when the weather is freezing.

We are considering a move this summer, but it is really going to depend on if my husband can transfer and all the stars align correctly for that to happen. I am a bit nervous moving from a very stable, and booming economy to somewhere where the economy is not doing so good. I pray about the decision and know that if God wants us to move he will make it happen.

I feel so bad for everyone that is facing unemployment and hard times. And seriously wish some of ya'll could move to Wyoming where there are tons of jobs.
