We love our newbies!!!!
Remember that everyone was new at one time or another and today's newbie with lots of questions can turn out to be tomarows hot deal spotter. I remember being a newbie and asking lots of dumb questions too.
That being said if there is a way that we can present our newbies with the information they need we will take those suggestions.
We recently put the useful links in our footer that has abbreviations and things like that. But the suggestion by purple (something...yikes!) is a good one. So now I have another project to work on perhaps. And if you guys have suggestions on how we can get our newbies the info they need by all means please drop me a PM!
But I really wish for the tone of HCW to be welcoming to newbies and for them not to be afraid to ask a question or two along the way. I do agree with the OP that if possible it is good to answer a newbies question and then point them to the FAQ/link of abbreviations, or whatever so that they can find the answers for themselves.
But on the flip side newbies have to remember to read the links and things too. As Cuz said we can provide them with the links to the FAQ's and stuff but we can't make them read them.
So lets remember to be kind to our newbies and try and help them out if we can. And if you have actual suggestions on ways we can better present that info to them I am all ears so shoot me a PM!
