Always a good idea to check ounces and other measurements on the containers.
Since they did this whole reformulation, it was an EXCELLENT opportunity to pull something like this.
Ya just gotta figure out the best deal every time you buy something.
I would think the generic brands (of any product) are less likely to do this. For example, Great Value (Walmart brand) ice cream is actually 1/2 gallon, as compared to Bryers, which is 1.75qts (and Breyers is still more expensive for a smaller container). The same might be true for other things...like detergent, soap, etc.
There's a "The Ever Shrinking packaging" thread somewhere around here, which I'm too lazy to find, but is full of gripes about this very issue!
Reminds me of a article I read the other day about how bars and restaurants are shrinking the size of a pint of beer (14oz from 16oz). A spokesperson for a chain said the customer doesn't care much about how big it is. Ironically, as the article pointed out, that spokesperson was from Hooters...saying their customers don't care about size! I busted out laughing when I read that!
