    yup....it's happening all over

TP sheets, are smaller, Paper towel sheets are smaller.

ounces are different than they used to be...

One thin I did do for my laundry detergent

the cap (measurer) is marked on the inside...
    1 for small/lightly soiled loads
    2 for med/reg soiled "
    3 for heavy/very soiled "

I put the measurements on the outside, with a sharpie, which makes me more aware of how much I am using...

the 32 load measurement was based on #1....UGH!!

Always a good idea to check ounces and other measurements on the containers.
Since they did this whole reformulation, it was an EXCELLENT opportunity to pull something like this.

Ya just gotta figure out the best deal every time you buy something.

I would think the generic brands (of any product) are less likely to do this. For example, Great Value (Walmart brand) ice cream is actually 1/2 gallon, as compared to Bryers, which is 1.75qts (and Breyers is still more expensive for a smaller container). The same might be true for other things...like detergent, soap, etc.

There's a "The Ever Shrinking packaging" thread somewhere around here, which I'm too lazy to find, but is full of gripes about this very issue!

Reminds me of a article I read the other day about how bars and restaurants are shrinking the size of a pint of beer (14oz from 16oz). A spokesperson for a chain said the customer doesn't care much about how big it is. Ironically, as the article pointed out, that spokesperson was from Hooters...saying their customers don't care about size! I busted out laughing when I read that!

    Default ice cream "1/2 gallons"

When did they change the size of the ice cream containers. I just got home with my 4 Breyers "1/2 gallons" to discover they are now 1 1/2 qts. Is this a recent development or I am just more aware now? Is it just Breyers or other ice cream as well? I certainly haven't noticed any price reductions lately to go with the size reductions. M

They've actually been that way for a while now, at least some of them anyway. They were half gallons, then 59 oz, and I guess some of them are now 1 1/2 quarts. Blue Bell is still half gallons though, and I think Blue Bunny is too.

There's a thread about this same thing here.

I've noticed it with other icecreams.
Especially when one is on sale and you think it'll be all size we commonly refer to as 1/2 gallon, only to find it's a specific ounce size like 52 oz or something....
they're trying to fool us, but thank goodness for us smart shoppers at HCW, we're still waiting for it to be the same price per ounce as we got the last time it was a good deal.

They just recently went down again. They started at 2 qts. In 2006 they changed to 1 3/4 qts, now I am seeing 1 1/2 qts. How long before they are single serve, I wonder? :shrug7:

Cereal is getting smaller...again...read this today in the AJC:

Boxes were reduced by an average of 2.4 ounces for 14 items sold under the Apple Jacks, Cocoa Krispies, Corn Pops, Froot Loops and Honey Smacks brands, said Kellogg spokeswoman Susanne Norwitz.

"This price adjustment on select ready-to-eat cereal brands was taken to offset rising commodity costs for ingredients and energy used to manufacture and distribute these products," Norwitz said.

ok, i can use the same amt of one of those...and the same amt of regular detergent...and i really see no difference in the cleaning / or lack of cleaning...lol
so, i have real doubts of the product being that much different, except...maybe a little more "thickener" for the concentrated(whatever a "thickener" for laundry detergent may be...
    does that make sense?...lol
Makes perfect sense! I just can't grasp the concentrated formulas. My mind is programmed to fill up the cap ...meaning I use just as much as the old formula which is not saving me anything!:hectic1:
