I was doing a Kellogg's deal this morning and got several boxes of the new flavors of Nutri Grain bars. Got home and realized that there are only 6 per box, instead of 8 in the old flavors. Same price, fewer bars. I guess the 25% markup was needed to include the antioxidants.

Scott paper towel rolls are the same size but the sheets are smaller. They are bigger than select a size but at least half the size of a regular sheet so they are almost useless. Too small to do most jobs, too big to sometimes need more than 1. I'm upset!

The Dawn dish liquid that used to be about 12.3 oz is all the way down to 9.5 oz or so. It went from 12.3 to 11.x to 10.x and now 9.5.

Do they think that we aren't noticing a THREE OUNCE difference in the size of the package?

Mrs P, since some pastas are now a 12oz box instead of a full pound, I guess they do think we're not going to notice. I was thrilled to find San Giorgio pasta at Superfresh for $.59, without any coupons! No limits! Then realized it's all 12 oz packages. Still an ok deal, but I can get two meals out of a pound box. Can't do that with a 12 oz box.

Kraft mac and cheese used to be (waaay back when) a 12 oz box, and you could get them 4/$1.00. Now it's what, 5.5 oz and $1.00 each on sale?

Lisa's Bargain Alert: smaller package sizes-Yoplait

I've blogged before about how annoying it is that manufacturers are shrinking package sizes and hoping we don't notice. Yesterday I stopped in at Acme to get one more set of Nutri Grain bars (found some coupons!) and noticed this sign on their window-"Yoplait, 4.6 oz-$x.xx" I don't remember what price they had listed.

Yogurt cups used to be 8 oz. Then they shrunk down to 6oz. Now, 4.6 oz! And the regular shelf price is anywhere from $0.75-$1.05. That's ridiculous.

Hope this isn't a repeat but I buy the humongous Stouffer's lasagnas now and then - 96 ounces. Opened one the other day and immediately noticed the pan was smaller. Looked, yep, sure enough, 6 ounces less than before.

You wouldn't think it would be noticeable on that big a container but it was. The box, however was NO smaller - still takes up just as much freezer space but I guess by reducing box size, unobservant customers like me would be onto their game sooner!!

Also, the serving number per box - 12 - was unchanged. Twits!!!!

I noticed in today's sales flyer that Genuardi's (Safeway) is selling a "pint" of Haagen Dazs ice cream, that is now 14 oz.
