Default POLL: Should you post in your thread that you are holding out for the best offer?

When offering coupons for trade do you trade with the first person who responds or do you wait 24+ hours to make your decision? Also do you post that you are looking for best offer or do you throw that in when the interested traders PM's or when you find that a lot of people are PMing you about your coupons?

I am brand new to trading Qs - but I believe honesty and being forthright is the best policy. If someone is holding out for the best offer I would appreciate knowing that and having it in the original post.

I personally trade with the first person who contacts me with an offer I can use - rather than waiting/trying to get more. I like easy trades and appreciate people who have that same laid back attitude. Maybe this is because I have not been burned yet - but I would probably stay positive no matter what (as that is just my personality). Even in my limited trading experience though I have had offers that were not equivalent to what I was offering in return.

I generally go ahead and post what I am looking for in return right in my post, since I usually have something on my mind for a sale that week lol --- and I respond right away to people who send me an offer, letting them know that I will take the trade or to let them know that what they have up for offer isn't quite what I am looking for. As far as a best offer goes, since I usually put what I am looking for in my post, it isn't much of an issue and if someone has close to what I am looking for, I go ahead with the trade. It doesn't bother me if I end up getting a better offer later, because I would rather trade quickly, so if I get a pretty good deal, and can share a good deal in return, I'm pretty happy! Hope I'm making sense today lol!

I normally trade with the first trader unless there's a HUGE difference in the offers.

I think the person posting the auction/trade has every right to choose which bid is best for them. I see no problem with it whatsoever. Personally, I don't usually post auctions or trades. I generally just RAOK. Better karma that way.

same here. If I have several PMs that come in about the same time, then I will choose the best offer.

I've been like that for a while, but I got to thinking the other day -- hey I saw an auction for these and folks were bidding BIG! So out the door went my RAOK, and I posted an auction, lol

I need every bit of help we can get right now, so auction/trade it is until things are a bit better financially.

Maybe I need to clarify a little.

I respond to a post about X coupons listed and make an offer based on the wishlist through a PM. The poster then comes back and says, "I am waiting to see all offers before I make a decision and it will be X # of hours before I decide. That is where this post is coming from. I don't care if you hold out for the best offer but I think you should post that you are taking offers and will decide which ones suits you best. To say please make an offer off my wishlist, an offer is made, and then to say, "Well, I want to see if I get a better one w/o stating that in the origional thread, to me is not a good trading practice.

If I am taking offers then I post I am taking offers. If I am looking for trades, then I will take the first trade offer unless it is just way off the mark (i.e. I have $20 in coupons and they offer $2 in coupons).

If my first offer is a reasonable one, then I usually say DONE. If its hot coupons, there are usually several pm's immediately so there are a few to choose from.

I think if someone is looking for best offer for hot coupons they "have" and plans to wait until the next day, its a good idea to put that so there are no hurt feelings. coupons tend to be fast paced because of sale times and expiration dates, so many people do not want to wait for someone to get 10 other offers KWIM? But, if they are going to decide same day, then its all good!

I think it's all fine and good to state it in your auction/trade post, but I do think it's kinda inky to not state as much in your post and then put up a "24 hour hold while waiting for better offers" thing.

You know what else I don't get? (I know it doesn't truly have an effect on me since I almost exclusively use ppef's to pay, but still...) What really gets me is when someone puts in their post that are reserving the right to hold their end of a deal until payment is received if the person they are trading with has less than 15 fb's...AND THE PERSON WHO POSTED THAT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE CLOSE TO 15 FB'S THEMSELVES!!! That to me, is just wrong. The other person is no more a newbie to trading than they are, but their holding their end "to be sure"? Just thought that was odd and certainly didn't make me wanna trade with them-even for an existing funds trade. Just left me feeling odd about the whole thing. Is that normal around here?
