I guess I need to look around at the auctions a bit. I don't really know what's "fair" in trades, so I just RAOK 'em. I'll have to make that my next "lesson" regarding Qs, huh?

I've have found to do better with very specific want trades. I tend to trade with my first responder otherwise.

I have made offers on trade post where it's CLEAR that they are waiting for their "best offer." If do get a next day response, I am prone to dissolving the trade out of ...well, annoyance.

I'm with ya on that. If I see someone's looking for something I have and can get rid of, I'll ROAK..for me it's just alot less hassle and stress...pass the good karma around, ya know?

Its very seldom that I am looking for anything except for when I do an auction or I am responding to what someone else wants.
BUT, I do notice alot that when I respond to someones ISO list I will Pm and tell them how many I have and what I would like for them and they come back and say they have enough, but then 2 days later I see that they are still wanting them. It may be they didn't like my offer or waiting for the best but just tell me, don't lie!! I HATE that. Come back and counter offer, I am an easy trader.

I think when doing an auction its ok to pick whats best as 15 of something may not be as good as 8 of another. Everybody has their own needs and wants.

I sort of think it is like when a guy asks you out for a Fri night date....either you like him enough to go out or you don't. You shouldn't keep him hanging hoping that someone else will ask you later.

You know what else I don't get? (I know it doesn't truly have an effect on me since I almost exclusively use ppef's to pay, but still...) What really gets me is when someone puts in their post that are reserving the right to hold their end of a deal until payment is received if the person they are trading with has less than 15 fb's...AND THE PERSON WHO POSTED THAT DOESN'T EVEN HAVE CLOSE TO 15 FB'S THEMSELVES!!! That to me, is just wrong. The other person is no more a newbie to trading than they are, but their holding their end "to be sure"? Just thought that was odd and certainly didn't make me wanna trade with them-even for an existing funds trade. Just left me feeling odd about the whole thing. Is that normal around here?
OMG!! I KWYM... I saw this the other day and was so surprised!! How does that work???
No, this is not normal. While many of us traders do have a "newbie hold note" it is usually 10 fb, and we don't always adhere to it. Just use your best judgement when trading, if they have rules that make you uncomfortable... don't trade!

Here's how I feel about this issue.

First of all, honesty is always the best way to do any transaction. If you're honest with me, I'll be back for another trade. If not, I'll think twice the next time. If you are trying to get the best offer for what you are offering, you need to state that in your thread. You also should say how long you're taking offers. If it's a couple of days, the traders need to know this, so they don't just assume that you've taken another offer. Communication is the key to good trades!

This also applies to the items you'll accept for trades. If you do not have paypal or rme, say that upfront. If you don't like to trade (or trade for) stamps, then say that. If you are only looking for certain items, make it clear that they are the only ones you'll accept. Yes, that means that some people won't be able to trade with you, but it will cut down on how many PM's you have to send back, saying "no thank you." Also, if you really only want certain things, DO NOT say, "make me an offer!!"
