The Official "I'm Done with My Taxes" thread

We bought our copy of Tax Cut on 1/27. My husband sat down and didn't get up until he was done with them that evening. He filed electronically...and the check was deposited on 2/5. Couldn't have been easier!

I finished our taxes yesterday... this year it was SOOOO easy!!! For the past several years, I have been self-employed and taxes were crazy with all the business stuff.

It usually takes hours for me to get everything figured out (I am very unorganized... my business receipts were typically thrown into a shoebox- LOL), this time, I did it for free through TurboTax (link from my State Farm insurance webpage which let me prepare and efile federal and state for free!) in about an hour (which included me checking all my info 3 times... what can I say, I'm paranoid).

I usually put it off until March or April just because I dread it so much... but I am WAY too cheap to pay someone to do them for me... especially because I would have to prep the "files" anyway... I doubt an accountant would accept a shoebox of receipts from me.

This year, it was just one W-2 for DH and nothing for me. So not only was it easy, but we're also getting back more than twice as much as we've ever gotten before! Which will really come in handy because DH was laid off the beginning of January and things are pretty tight around here.

Lots of stress around here, but knowing that the taxes are done is a big relief! And getting our refund so early will be great... it'll pay our mortgage for 7 months!

My goal is this week to get them done. I need to find a few more CC statements...as that is how I keep track of when I too DS to the hospital so I can add mileage and meals.

Feds: We will get a crazy amount back. Between being unemployed (which a nice chunk of that won't even be counted), and being employed, buying a home, having 3 kids, getting earned income credit, and the child tax credit and buying a new house credit and I think we will be itemizing as well...*giggle*

however we will probably owe the state...so will send feds in first...and send whatever I owe to the state once we get the feds back. It probably won't be a terrible amount...but I'm not being optimistic on that one.

Mine are done except for DH union dues - just waiting for statement... ugh - I want to file soon because with him laid off due to the weather, we are starting to run short on funds!!!

Did them online at Turbo Tax last Sunday, got the refund Friday.

taxes are finished!!! Hubby took them to the AARP thingy at the libarary. It was free but he did leave a nice tip in the tip jar. We are getting back this year after paying for the last 5 years. When the $$$ comes, I will buy out flight tickets to Mexico so I am doing the happy dance

we filed on 1-15 and got out money on 1-18.. all spent..but we got some great things accomplished.

I finished ours a week or so ago, and the refund SHOULD be put into the bank this Friday. We'll see! I use taxactonline. I have for years, and I love them.

I did our federal online, we should have our refund on the 16th. We have to pay in to the city & Ohio, so I'll be filing those on April 15th!
