TurboTax - Free e-file for federal return, and depending on how hard your taxes are, there is a free version for simple returns you can sign up for.

H&R Tax Cut - $14.95 for basic service and free federal e-file

Complete Tax - Free e-file, federal tax prep is $29.95

Tax Brain - The do the filing for federal starting at $14.95, and they also do tax refund loans (which I don't advocate, but I know some people need them!)

Anyone have any good/bad experiences filing with these services? I'm thinking about doing the 2008 ones online. Looks like we might qualify for them for free.

We've been using Turbo Tax the last couple years. No problems there.
Make sure you click thru a rebate program, (like MyPoints, Memomail, Ebates, etc.) before doing your taxes, so you earn a little extra cash.

Last year we got an extra surprise, when I found out I had earned extra rebate $ when dh filed the taxes, because I had done an ad click thru in the prior week. It was enough of a difference w/ the points in my account to finish earning us a $10 gas gift card!

...Does HCW have an 'affiliate link' for tax filing, like they do for other shopping. (or like coupons.com, smartsource, etc.) ?

Why do they file free online but charge you 28.00 if you want to print them? I just wanted a paper trail before I e-filed & they want 30.00 for that? I don't get it.
