Default Tax Question - Renting to family?

I co-live with some family members in the same home. They pay me a monthly rent as they are on SSI and SSI says that X amount must be paid to me in rent.

Do I need to report this on my taxes? What are the rules on this type of renting? All rent payments were paid in cash fwiw.

Default Re: Tax Question - Renting to family?

Any income that you receive should be stated on your income tax forms. Rent is considered income. You should consult a tax advisor, but you should also be able to claim any repairs that were directly related to their space that they rent.
