Default Question about Turbo Tax Price

If I get the federal for 29.95 and I want to do the state also, am I going to have to pay an extra 34.95 just for the state or is it a combined price for federal and state at 34.95. I am confussed. Plus tht seems like a lot of money to me.

It doesn't cost anything to fill them out. However, if you file ELECTRONICALLY, you will have to pay a fee, for the federal, the state, and to have your refund electronically put into your bank account. It cost us about $100 this year, for the different fees. hth

Now I am more confussed. I thought you paid the price of the forms to get downloaded and they help guide you so to speak.

When I did HR last year I paid a one time price of 49.95 and that included everything. Does Turbo Tax nickle and dime you then. I am more confussed than ever. I hate tax time, and I can't afford a couple hundred to see someone.

Yeah state is separate. If your income is not very high, visit intuit dot com first. Or check the IRS site for free filing programs. You can at least file your federal for free in some cases. I did most of the time qualify when I was working.

You'll still have to pay to file state and you'll have to pay an additional fee to have the direct deposit into your account. But they're pretty quick so I think it's worth it unless your refund is teeny tiny. :)

You can go on and fill out the forms online. But to actually file electronically using those forms there is a fee.

I think you can use their site and print and file by mail, but honestly I don't know if they charge you for that. If you go on their website, it'll tell you.

I just bought TurboTax Deluxe @ OfficeMax for $49.95 and it includes a free download of the "state" and 5 free e-files.

There are coupons out there for $15/$50. I used one to make this deal even better.

I see you live in Michigan... go to the Michigan Government site and you will find companies that let you file free... most have stipulations but it's something to check into.. I filed free through Turbo Tax (both Fed and State) because I made less than $30,000 last year.. HTH

DId you use this site? I am not a client of them so I am not sure what all I have to do. Do I need to open an account or what?

This morning I checked out turbo tax and decided against it. It was not free. So I erased all my info and did my taxes with H and R Block online for free. And it was so easy to do.
