Question about tide coupons

I went to my local Target today and tried to use a .50 manufacturig q on the travel size Tide. I checked the coupon and it states .50 off Tide. It didn't take it and the cashier told me that it had to be on the bigger Tide. I don't usually take advantage of the trial size but if the coupon states off 1 item and doesn't exclude trial size, should this have worked??? I am just curious. I don't want to anything wrong!!

Okay this is what has happened and it has been fairly recent.

P&G who make tide changed who they have "bottle" the trial size tide. Instead of them doing it they are farming it out to another company. Because of this now the UPC on the package does not match the coupon thus it beeps. There is nothing on that coupon the forbids you to use it on trial size though (sometimes they do!) so it's up to the store YMMV, whether they want to push the coupon through or not.

This is why it beeps though. And the store won't understand this. It's there decision. But that coupon doesn't dictate what size you have to purchase.

You didn't do anything wrong. Technically they didn't either. I'd write P&G a letter and tell them to quit putting out stupid .50 cent coupons. We want the nice $2.00 ones back
