I don't think so, only because I don't think that Target allows you to apply coupons to free items. So since the first deodorant is already free, you aren't technically 'purchasing' one and getting one free, you know? I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure you'd have a problem with that one. Even though it'd be great. lol.

Yes you could get the deodorant free but I am a little confused, did you get the BOGO Gillette bodywash, get the deo free? I am confused at what the ? is.

You can try this link to the coupons page on Target.com or just visit the page and scroll all the way to the bottom and click on Coupons, it will show all they offer. Hope this helps :)

Well, dh did an errand and stopped in to Target with the coupons. It worked. The cashier said "You orchestrated that well." Dh said, "No. not me. That was my wife."

Here is what we did... YMMV...

Gillette Body Wash (got long lasting for our teenage boy, lol) normally $4.99, -$2/1 Q (5/15/11 insert)

Gillette Deodorant... FREE WYB one Gillette Body Wash with Q from 5/1/11 PG insert.

Gillette Deodorant... FREE by using the B1G1 free for Gillette Deodorant Q (5/15/11 insert)

So basically, I got the three products - 1bw and 2deos - for under $3... would have been under $1.50 if dh would have picked cheapest/if we didn't have an active/smelly teenager.

I have three more setups like that. I may stop in on an errand and get more. (only I'll get the cheaper kind for dh and maybe one long lasting for ds)

Thats interesting that, that worked for you, as you had already used the 'Gillette Deodorant ... Free WYB one Gillette body wash with Q'

that should of covered the free deodorant, and since you didn't buy that deodorant, the B1G1 shouldn't of applied, unless i'm wrong here, you got away with it lol.

I was hoping to drop by Target this weekend to grab a few of these. I doubt that will work for me, as it did for you, then again maybe it will.

    Good find though!

I tried to use my coupons unsuccessfully at Walmart. They would not allow me to use the $2 off coupon for the bodywash if I used the BOGO coupon for the deodorant. So I went to Target, but unfortunately but I did not have the $1 Target coupon, so I had to pay $1.49. But that's ok for bodywash and deodorant. I didn't want to use the rest of my coupons, just in case I can find that Target coupon sheet I had.

Well, I got away with it twice. But then, I am starting to get the impression that the cashiers in my area are very easygoing wrt coupons/couponing. I took the other 9 coupons I had and got 3 more body washes and 6 more deodorants. This was a different store, since dh had stopped by the one close to his errand.

I'm slightly blown away over it.

My guess is that it worked because you "buy" the bodywash with cash and a coupon, then you "buy" the first deodorant with the second coupon (buy a bw/get deo free), then you "buy" the second deodorant with the third coupon.

There were no restrictions on the coupons that said you could not do it. It followed the rule of one mfr coupon per item. It did not even specify "equal or lower value". It merely said "Up to $4.99" and that was on both of the deodorants.

All I know is I now have 4 Gillette body washes and 8 deodorants added to my stockpile at a grand total of $4.41. (now if I can just find that kind of deal on Axe or Softsoap coconut scrub and lady speed stick)

If I were you, I'd try it. You just never know if it will work. You could always ask the cashier first and explain "Does it count if I 'buy' the first deodorant with a coupon to get the second deodorant free?" or something like that.

OK now I am confused!! BUT I am glad that you were able to add to your stockpile. Last week I went to Kroger, and they had their "Mega event" and the new Right guard bodywash was on sale 2.99 and it was a BOGO (buy the bodywash get one free) And I had a $1 off coupons for them so I pair it with other items that were $2 and under and ended up only pay tax which was less than $5!!! I love couponing, I wish I was smarter and wiser when I had kids 5 years ago!!!!

I know, right! I still have kids, but MAN! I could have used these skills 5-10 years ago when trying to save for a house or something! Better yet... back when I was a single working mom!

Anyway... to explain, hopefully a little better...

A coupon is a piece of paper with ink/words printed on it. Those words give it a specific value, or "amount". Just like a dollar bill is a piece of paper with ink/words on it and that determines the type/value of the bill.

I think most serious couponers recognize this more than the average person who looks at a coupon as nothing more than a newspaper insert that belongs in the recycle bin/trash. Many would take a $2 coupon and toss it in the trash just to be done with it, but I'd bet my life if that was 2 $1 bills, they would almost never do such a thing. The funny thing is that they are pretty much the same thing. Both worth $2. Sure, one is more restrictive on where you can spend it, but that would be similar to tossing a $2 gift card away too.

It's all a matter of perspective.

That said... The coupons I used would be valued as such...

    Gillette Body Wash, $2/1.... value = $2.

Gillette Deodorant, buy a body wash get a deo free... value UP TO $4.99 (printed on coupon with slot to fill in actual value by clerk)
....... so, in some stores... accounting systems, registers, however they handle coupons, that coupon may count as PAYMENT of the item, so it says FREE, but it may be calculated (registered in the cash register) as paid for by the coupon.

Gillette Deodorant, B1G1Free.... value UP TO $4.99 (printed on coupon with slot for clerk to fill in value)

I really think this will depend on store policy, which to a large part may also be attached to their accounting system. How do they account for inventory and sales and all that stuff? How do their computers/registers track and how are the clerks trained to handle things? What is the goal of the store, etc.

I think that is why one Target store may be different from another. Because the manager is the one who is held accountable for variances in sales/inventory and thus, the person who will be the authority of what is acceptable or not.

    Clear as mud?
