    QUESTION Did I go overboard?

I bought 27 Reach dental flosses (used 7 $1/1 & 10 $2.50/2). Every one of the Q's the cashier Was prompted that if the item was bought to accept. They were mixed in with all my other Q's. She said at 1 point she lost count of how many I got. I assured her it was 27 & that I knew i had the right # of Q's. Then it was like she was worried she would get in trouble for excepting so many, but she ran them all anyways. She looked so annoyed by the time she was done. I know it is not like the hundreds they talk about on 'that show', but was it still overboard? Before you ask I did not 'shelf clear' no where near it, they had 4-6 pegs full of them so I may of cleared 1 peg if I took them from one spot, but I spread it out so there was no empty spots. Thank you in advance for any feed back.

I usually don't get more than 3 or 4 of an item at a time unless a sale is about to end or a coupon is about to expire. Just for the reason you experienced, makes the cashiers nervous and more likely to question your coupons.

I would say up to about 10 is not excessive but the cashier could always stop to count if she wasn't sure. Some people are not able to make multiple trips for the items they want.

I normally buy 5-10 identical items in the same transaction when using coupons. It does raise a red flag when using large quantities of coupons. I know, there is nothing technically wrong with using a lot of coupons; I have had to get manager over rides because I used too many coupons in a single transaction. But I believe stores are more aware of people trying to commit coupon fraud, and more people are trying to push their luck, because of that show. I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but I don't think you were "flying under the radar" either. The other day a couple went into Kroger and tried to buy 30 bottles of Wisk laundry detergent using 30 $2 printable coupons. The store manager said he would allow 2 bottles and 2 coupons. The couple actually started throwing a fit and arguing with the manager! I was actually thrilled the manager did this.
I would say be thankful the cashier pushed all the coupons through for you. Next time you might want to consider breaking up your purchases a little more.

It's important to "fly under the radar".

If this is the coupon* I think it is (4/17 SS), then it was used improperly, hence why the register prompted the cashier to verify.

*Here is what the coupon says: “Buy 2 Save $2.50. buy (1) Listerine total care anticavity mouthwash 1L or larger and/or any (1) Reach toothbrush and/or any Reach floss or (1) Reach access flosser”

If this is the coupon I think it is, it clearly states "items can not be duplicated". This means you would have to buy (1) TB & (1) Floss OR (1) TB & (1) mouthwash OR (1) mouthwash & (1) floss.

Oh, and I don't think you went overboard by purchasing 27 TBs...as long as you don't clear the shelf, which you said you didn't do! But I also agree with the others who suggested to buy them in smaller transactions.

Experience has taught many here that if you clear shelves with every coupon you have (which OP did not do), it leads manufacturers and retailers to change their coupon policies to reflect that abuse of the system. Hence the "flying under the radar" advice, and why many of us make multiple trips and transactions. What we have seen happen over the past two years or so is good deals and high value coupons drying up, and it is due to fraudulent and unethical couponers (that is not what I am suggesting you are specifically OP, this is a general statement ) This is just a heads up for the newbs, that may not have been playing the game long enough to see how their behavior effects not only their own bottom line, but also those of their fellow couponers. Our community has a very symbiotic component to it, following the "rules" helps us all. What we do is beat the manufacturers at their own game. If we make it too obvious that we're winning, they change the rules of the game. An analogy I would compare it to is Vegas, the House(manufactures) always wins, if they catch someone counting cards ("extreme" couponers) they toss them out of the casino....

I would think as long as the Q doesn't say that you cannot use more than 4 like coupons in a trip, then you are all good!

Like cnsyoder said, that's the coupon I got as well. And it's the only one listed in the database for that value. Yes, the coupon was used incorrectly-- two of the floss could not be purchased per the fine print of no duplicate items.

But aside from that, I don't think buying 27 of something is necessarily a bad thing. I don't bother to fly under the radar. The only thing that really deters me is inconvenience to myself or the cashier and not wanting to hold up lines forever.
