QUESTION Does Target have a new coupon policy I don't know about?

I went in today to get free dental floss and nail clippers, but when I got to the register, the cashier told me that I was not allowed to use two of the same coupons in one transaction. Are they limiting like coupons now? I was so confused because I've never had problems with these items and coupons before, so I'm wondering if something changed. Here's the breakdown of what I bought.

    (2) Reach Dental Floss, $0.89 (TPC)
    - (2) $1 IP
    (1) Revlon Nail Clipper, $1.59
    - (1) $2 Target Q (adjusted to $1.59)
    (1) Clearance Toddler Shorts, $2.00

The Revlon Q went through no problem, but when it came to the second Reach Floss Q, she wouldn't scan it and told me that I was not allowed to use it. She said that they had been having problems with people abusing coupons and making copies of them, but when I expressed my confusion at this new rule she ended up pushing it through. I'm still not 100% sure what the problem was, and I was hoping one of you might know what went wrong.

Just mostly uninformed. I think the problem is the two reach coupons exceed the amount of the items. Target generally will adjust the coupon down instead of allowing you overage. Target does allow their managers to make up their own policies on the fly, so it's always a YMMV at Target. Not allowing two of the same coupon is crap, though.

if this happens again..at any store...show them the completely different numbers on the IP's. They each will generate a completely different number.

I'm sure they get copies...if they look at the numbers though...it will be kind of obvious unless someone has put a lot of effort into it.

My store has a new policy of having to put the coupons on the belt with the products they coincide with so they can scan the coupon immediately after the product. They said it is helping them an speeding things up, to me its a pain

Nope, nothing has changed - however as previous posters have mentioned, if a store manager imposed a limit on the number of printables due to fraud, the company does leave it up to them. In the case that perhaps the cashier had become confused when the coupon wouldn't go through, perhaps a call to that store is in order, and you could speak to the manager who would be in charge of the coupon acceptance. They would be able to tell you for sure if that specific store has a different policy than what is set forth by corporate :)

I know some of the Target coupons are only 1 per transaction, but it looks like that wasn't your problem. Check the wording on your other coupons. You were probably right, but you never know. Nowadays, they're putting all sorts of funny wording on the coupons!

I don't know whats up but I had never had trouble with my Target before. Then I went in today and had 2 of the penny coupons for the carefree liners. I had 2 packs and the cashier tried to tell me I could only use one. Her theory on it was I could only use 1 Target coupon and one Manufaturers coupon per TRANSACTION. She finally did it but even asked the manager on duty and confused the crap out of her too. They both were trying to say that I could only use one of each type of coupon per transaction period. And this was NOT a new cashier.

I had problems a few weeks back with having overages. I was buying my son a shirt with the overage plus I would still be spending a dollar something. I did go back later and to a different cashier with no problem. I've been wondering about their policy myself.
