QUESTION Target doesn't take smartsource coupons?

I really don't know if this is old news or not, I only found one mention of it on HCW, but today I was informed by a manager that it was corporate policy that Target not take coupons from smartsource. She came by the register I was at after I gave the cashier my coupons and went through them (I had a few print outs that he had to put in manually and they went in fine, I had just had the ink cartridges refilled so the bars were pretty thick and bold...). I only had one and it was for J&J baby soap, but she went on to ask where exactly I had gotten it. She told me that all the smartsource coupons were considered fake and that the couldn't take them, but took mine anyways. I can understand why she asked it, and had heard about the scam from my brother before, but the way she handled it wasn't the most polite way. I felt like I was being seen as some kind of thief for using a 75 cent coupon. After that I went to Kroger and I had no problems at all. Has anyone had this problem?

Does anyone know if this is a policy or just something going around between stores, or a single store? This was at the Target on Bay Area Blvd in Friendswood, TX by the way.

So far, we haven't had any problems with printed coupons at Target. One of our grocery stores has stopped taking them though.

It always bothers me when a cashier says that they don't think a coupon is good and says they will take it this one time. I feel like, if you think it's not real, why would you take it at all?

As of the last time I wrote to Target for a copy of their coupon policy though, there was no official problem on printables. Perhaps you would like to write to corporate or call them and ask if the rules have changed.

    I know right? XD

I checked the policy last night (here it is) and there was nothing about printable coupons. Thought about e-mailing them then but I think I will today. I'll post what I find out.

Some non-grocery stores will balk at taking blinkies, which are Smartsource. It's probably just some ill-informed folks again. I think Target lets their managers set whatever policy they feel like, much like Walgreens. I haven't had any difficulties at my store with them, but I hardly buy anything there...they're too expensive.

If you have any questions about a specific coupon or experience using a coupon at Target, we want to help! Please give our Guest Relations team a call at (800) 440-0680. We'll do the best we can to help you as quickly as possible. For your call, please provide a team member with the following reference number: 1-466493285.

In the meantime, I'd like to share with you some information about our coupon policy. When accepting coupons, we use the following guidelines:

    - We accept two kinds of coupons: Target-issued and manufacturer-issued.
    - We'll accept one Target coupon and one manufacturer coupon for the same item, unless either coupon prohibits it.
    - We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in this case, we're able to adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item.
    - We can't accept coupons from other retailers, or coupons for products not carried in our stores.
    - All valid coupons should be presented to the cashier while you're checking out.

Thanks for writing. Give us a call if there's anything else we can do to help.
This was the e-mail I received, which is just the coupon policy from before. It didn't really help, but I might call that number eventually to see what's said there.
