Oh I know. Maybe until Target fixes this they should just add all of our coupons up on a calculator and then apply one total discount as a target coupon, lol. I am sure they would never think of something so simple, or they will say that they won't be able to keep track of coupons deducted when it comes to returns.

Or what about the good old fashion way of hand entering the coupon...Whoops that would be to much work at least at my nearest Target

    From the article:
Cataldo’s example concerns a recent coupon offering $1 off when buying eight Yoplait yogurts. The conventional thinking is that a Target consumer would pay $1 less than the total cost of all eight yogurts.
But apparently Target’s checkout registers, after making sure you bought eight, apply the $1 discount to a single 39-cent yogurt. The computer then apparently figures that the value cannot drop below zero, so just 39 cents is subtracted, instead of $1.
Retailers typically submit for reimbursement the face value of coupons. If applied, Target would get $1 from the manufacturer, netting the retailer 61 cents.

    This comment nailed it:

I will never shop at Target. I’ve worked in applications development for years.. any Analyst, Developer, or Tester who would miss the example cited – the 8 Yoplait yogurts, is incompetent and should be fired. For them to not fix this when they had months, prove it is deliberate. Who cares about a lawsuit to recover a few cents? There should be criminal charges against Target. They are deliberating stealing from the customers!! I’m sure if I walked out with a yogurt everytime I shop there for months, they’d understand if I told them it was a mistake.

Not just the stealing from the customers, but aren't they defrauding the manufacturers on some level? I mean, stores get busted for submitting Qs they clip (or buy) themselves for coupon fraud.
How is this different? They discount $.39 to the customer on the yogurt but get their $1.08 back. Multiply that by how many coupons from how many customers? That sounds like fraud to me. I'm surprised the mfg's don't have anything to say about it.

Yup not only are they being fraudgelent with the customers but doing the same with the manufactures...and that might be the better place we as customers put pressure on. If Kelloggs and P & G and Kimberly Clark all new how they and we the customer are being ripped off by Target they may be able to get things fixed quicker than us.

But still no fix, and no time frame for a fix. I love how Target says "some coupons aren't scanning right". More than just that. B1g1's are a mess. GC deals are a mess. I just do not understand how this can continue for months on end with no resolution. Go back to the old system. Post signs. Educate managers and cashiers. ANYTHING!! And it's more than thousands they are making off this. Think about it..... 1700+ stores nationwide. At just $10 per store "error" per day since they "acknowledged" it in August adds up to:

    1700 stores x $10 = $17,000 x 63 days since they acknowledged = $1,071,000!!!

And that's at $10/day/store. You KNOW it has been month's longer and can bet it's more than $10/day/store. Just thought I'd put the numbers out there for you to ponder.......

Well the last time it happened to me it was a $7.00 error...so if I can manage to get nailed with a $7.00 error...I would imagine that there amount that day was more than $10.00

My point exactly, $10 is nothing. So how much do you think they have made off this??? I can't even imagine......

This problem is so far reaching too. I mean, think about it. How many people bought tons and tons of glade products last year at target, but refuse to do it this year because of the register glitches. How much is that going to effect glade's sales this holiday season? And that is just one example. You would think the companies who put out the coupons would push target to get going on this because it has got to be affecting their sales.
