Offering store credit because my receipt expires in 3 weeks

I bought some sheets at Target about 5 weeks ago, my receipt does not expire for another several weeks, but I decided the are too bright for the room, so I went to take them back, well they clearance them out already.. so even with the receipt, I cant return them at all, not even a store credit, or lowest sale price.. no nothing!

Are you serious?!? And now there are issues with certain GC deals and coupon usage. Target is out of control!

Why? Just because the item is on clearance? Why is that your problem?

Stores have to be very careful with return policies...they can be held liable for refusing to honor their return policy the same as false advertsiing/bait & switch tactics.

They already did the clearance thing.. they are totally gone now, they dont carry these colors anymore. Thats my problem..

Good thing I read this thread and will now heed the warning. It's sad because Target was one of the stores that I always found easy to return stuff too- with with their 3 monts return ploicy and recipt look up.

Is this just starting to happen recently? Because I have never had a problem returning things at Target with a receipt, even on clearanced things and even right up to the expiration on the receipt.

Like PP's said, if this is the case now, maybe I won't be shopping there anymore. I don't go there much now because I don't have one super close but I do tend to buy things for Chrsitmas there.

This is crazy!! I've never had a problem before either. Luckily my target is good about coupons and returns. It sounds like your store has some loss prevention problems and are tightening up.

Wow. That's incredible. It's not your problem they put them on clearance. So they are saying ALL stores all across the country are out of them? Insane. At the retail store I work at, we would take back the item, put the current clearance price on it, and put it on the shelf. If you receipt is valid, it's not your problem. I'd be raising a stink.
