My store wouldn't take the coupon. It beeped with the socks and she said that they were not apparel. "It was supposed to be for stuff you wear." I don't know what she does with her socks, but I wear mine on my feet. I figured my store would be one that won't accept them.

Hilarious! Yeah, what does she do with her socks other than -- uh, duh, "wear them"! Sheesh, there she be a new reality TV show, "Target's Employees Say the Dumbest Things".

FYI, this coupon came out on SD a few weeks ago and was ABUSED all to heck, so Target is getting pretty picky with it. YMMV as to whether your cashier will be nice. It stinks when some greedy people ruin it for everyone.

How was it abused? Where people not getting C9 clothing with it? I don't understand.

From what I can understand, when it first came out it gave overage and would scan for any C9. People were buying kids clothes with it, one guy bragged about picking up 40 (yes, that 40!!) shirts in one go, all were on clearance, all gave overage and he literally fought with managers to get them all in one go. Other people described similar shelf clearing and blatant overage, even buying kids items, etc for the overage. A few day after all that came to light the coupon became much, much more difficult to use.

When I first started using it (no abuse) it never beeped or anything. No messages about "item not found" and I never got crap from a cashier. Now, it's a pure headache...BUT, we have no budget and DH needs socks, so I'll put with the hassle for that.

I have tried at 2 different Targets to use my coupons. (My neighbor printed out a bunch before it was pulled and gave me several.) No go at either. For those who have been able to use it for socks, how are you doing it? I really need some new socks and love the C9 ones. Do you just argue that socks are apparel? I was told yesterday that the coupon beeps for everything now. So I am unclear what the coupon is allowed for. I know several people are getting the socks. Either I am just terribly unlucky with cashiers or those people are just very lucky.

I was able to use it on the ladies socks that are $5.99. It did beep but the cashier just K1ed it. I also got the 3 pack with a bonus 4th pair. It is definately an appropriate use of the coupon, IMO.
