This thread has been dead for a year but I wanted to ask if anyone has recently been able to get overage on coupons?

I get overage all the time and the only time my coupon is adjusted down is when I have say only one item for $0.97 and a $1 q, then it will be adjust to $0.97. But if I have 100 $1 items and $say 75 Q's worth $100 , it will go through! You just have to pay sales tax!

So I spend a lot of time at Target! I bought alot of the magic tape today, got enough overage for some shoes for the kids for school, and Im taking all the tape up to the school for them to use!
    My Wish List
I do not use Pay Pal. I can double only below $.49 but can not use Printables for doubling. Always in need of Coke , Gatorade and Powerade coupons.

As stated in Target's coupon policy:
Coupon amount may be reduced if it exceeds the value of the item after other discounts or coupons are applied.

Sometimes, when it is scanned, the coupon amount is automatically reduced. Other times, it isnt. And in situations, it prompts the cashier to check for the valid product and enter in the coupon value. Usually with the case of cashiers manually entering the coupon value, that will most likely cause for overage if they dont check that the coupon value is worth more than the item. Most of the time, front-lane cashiers dont really check for overage because they are GRADED by how fast they are to serve you. So overall, it depends on which cashier you get, and how knowledgeable they are on the coupon policy.

Well, that's how it is at the Target that I work at.

Bottom line, they ARE supposed to change the value if it exceeds the amount of the item.

If its just a single item and a single coupon, it should adjust down. However, for some reason, the software allows overage so long as you are purchsing other items in the transaction to cover it. Makes me happy, cause I got a great deal the other day with the Milo's kitchen dog treats TQ that showed up in my newspaper!

first of all, they should take your Q and adjust it down.

I'm sorry guys, but I just can't seem to understand why its ok to post about getting overage at TArget, even though we all know the corporate policy is "no overage", the Qs are supposed to be adjusted down.

So, knowing this, and letting it go when a casheir gets it wrong.....is wrong. I'm sorry. But I don't feel like this is responsible couponing. Target may not get reimbursed for that "overage" when the drawers are audited and the amts are balanced out. If you love shopping at Target, then you have to play by the rules, or one day, they will stop being so coupon friendly.

Usually posting about something that is against a stores official policy is a BIG problem on this site.

So really, my question is to our Target mod: Is this ok? I keep seeing more and more of these posts. let me know, and if it is, I will not say another word.

I PMd you jessonica, and to answer your question "out loud" for everyone else, I think this thread is okay, because basically the question is "why was my coupon refused rather than adjusted down." If the main topic would have been about actually getting overage at Target, then it may have been flagged, but IMO this one is fine.
