Target & the BOGO Venus & Herbal Essences

Im confused. The coupon that came out a few weeks ago - buy a venus razor get an olay body wash free - theres a pic of olay ribbons on the coupon. The target manager told me I had to get whats in the picture. I had an Age Defying wash. She said you have to get the size indicated. My next visit at the same Target - they had Herbal Essences shampoo & conditioner wrapped together i like a combo pack. It was $9.99 marked down to $4.98. I got 4 of them & tried to use the Buy any shampoo, conditioner or styler & get a free styler. She told me I couldnt use that one either. I said it says "ANY shampoo, conditioner, etc". She said but it says it has to be whats indicated on the picture. (It was a smaller shampoo & conditioner). I said well the picture is of an orange bottle, are you saying I cant get the blue bottle? SHe fumbled over her words & then another manager came up & said I couldnt use it b/c it was on clearance & the coupon isnt registering in the computer. Uh, price mod...?. Then the associate laughed at me b/c I had a Clairol Perfect 10 hair dye on clearance for $4.98 & a coupon for $5. SHe laughed & "said what is this..we cant even take this b/c we cant give you money back." At this point I was ready to walk out. I said "No, but you can give the discount up to the price of the item. She looked at me like I had 4 heads. Im going back over tomorrow morning & hopefully its a different manager. (they charged me for 2 hair dyes) My question is what are my options for the free Olay wash when you buy a Venus razor, & same with the Buy any HE shampoo, etc get a styler free? I should be able to buy a combo pack on clearance, right? She keeps quoting the first line of small print on the coupon."Redeem only by purchasing the brand, size, & quantities indicated." But shes referring to the picture which looks like a 12 oz bottle. The combo pack was the larger bottle but i didnt think it went by the picture, Im sorry for babbling. I just dont know Targets rules. & these cashiers act like the money is coming out of their paycheck. It makes me furious.. Thanks in advance for your help

With Target, my best advice is to keep their printed out coupon policy with you at all times. I got mine by e-mailing them some questions and they gave me a list of what i can do. In the case of the coupon exceeding the item price, they say that they can't give u money back but they would adjust it down so it could be free. Honesly, i'm not sure about the clearance although i don't see why not. Try contacting their CS, they're way nicer in my experience than the managers at the stores and much more knowledgeable, print out their reply and that way u have written proof.

Target Coupon Policy this was found in the Target FAQ.

I shop two different ways at Target. I play the "ok, my bad" shopper, "you are right, how could I be so dumb." If I have all day, I don't leave until I get what I want. Most of the time, I don't have any issues at Target.

Using coupons on gift packs or special buys has been YMMV at Target.

I encourage you to contact P&G and let them know about your Olay body wash experience. They might make all your troubles at Target worth it.

Hey Im in Ohio. But at my local target store, here in the elyria area, there were the regular size shampoo and conditioners packaged together and they were 2.98. It was a B1G1 deal. And i used the get a free styling product coupon. i also bought some travel size conditioners and used the get free styling product. Each target is different. I swear they try and make up their own policy.

Wow, You just relived my worst coupon experience...Not too long ago...like a week ago...I had the same scenario at Target.

I bought 3 Physician Formula items at $3.27 and $3.97 and had three $4 peelies. I also had some other filler items to use overage.

The coupons did not scan through the machine. So they dude cashier says I can't use it because the peelies is worth more than the products. He then showed it to some woman cashier who casually came over and sat down yapping away to the other cashiers. She said that I couldnt use it.

Then I pulled out my Target policy and point the paper and the lines on it right in her face to read it. After having read it, she says there's no way for us to readjust or modify the price on the scanner. I said Well then ask someone who knows how! Some other dumb girl walk by, saw I was holding up the line (one lady) and hear them out and I gave her the policy too. She read it and agreed with teh other two. Then said I can't use it on a clearance item. The 2 mean cows stayed and told the dude to leave and 'they' willl handle this.

I told her to call Target Customer service hotline and she did. Then mid way, some other dude by the name of "BIKON" came and talked to the women. One and the other one hang up and told me to call. I called and talked to someone but had to wait while they get someone that can help me. While I was waiting...the BIKON dude came and said OK, if this transaction is not done within teh next 30 seconds, You gotta go! He was trying to kick me out!! I was mortified!!

I got so pissed, I took my coupons back and stormed out the door !! Arghhh. Finally driving almost home, I finally taked to someone in customer service and they agreed that I should have been able to do that. He said he will call them to have them 'retrain' their employees. For my time wasted, I wanted to at least get a gift card or something! CVS does that! Soooo LOVEEE CVS. Okay now back to Target...

is there a coupon friendly target ANYWHERE? i was doing the free body washes and somehow got 20 of them but it was a struggle one store just hit accept on the coupon...the other tried to come up with any excuse possable. To price adjust they finally just scanned 2 washes and then a coupon...each one was forced but was modified down to the price of the subtotal...then 2 more then a coupon and so on and so forth...hate targets...has to be a killer deal for me to step foot in one...like free body washes!

There is! There is!! The Target I shop at has never given me any problem. :shrug7: Though I usually seem to get the young boy cashiers that don't give a crap. When I used the Buy razor get body wash free (x2) Q, he actually gave me the razor free. Which gave me about an extra $4 off.

They must be cracking down on coupons at Target lately b/c I don't normally have a problem, but I was there on Saturday and bought the following:

2 Smuckers Uncrustables
used 2 of the $1 off coupons
2 Dove Ultimates
used 2 of the $2 off coupons

Had my hubby double-check my purchases b/c I hate being embarrassed at the cashier for having the wrong coupon....had to check out at the Customer Service b/c of the crowd and the 2 cashiers at the desk EXAMINED my coupons for like 10 minutes before they even scanned them (which went through without a hitch) but they reading the fine print on all four of them, um hello, there are two of each coupon...it was so rude, I'm liking Target less and less these days, almost as much as I dislike Walmart.

The legality of coupons is what is WRITTEN on the coupon, not pictured. Just tell them that there is NO WAY every manufacturer can put a picture of EVERY SINGLE product they make.

Print the Target coupon policy out & take with you, which explains they adjust the coupon down to the item price.

As for the Herbal Essence...did you get a styler in addition to the bonus pack? The coupons go by barcodes, they bonus pack would count as your buy shampoo (or conditioner) then you would go get a styler free.

you just have to explain to them that a bogo free coupon the price has to be entered manually, which is why there is a box that says, "fill in price". That's what i always say when the the bogo free or free coupons beep, and i haven't had any problems getting the accepted at the stores i shop. The key is to act like you know what you are doing are doing, because you do, and normally problems can be avoided.
