TARGET BLACK FRIDAY 2009 ~ No price match on Black friday

My target told me they would not be price matching on black friday - anyone have anything that disproves this? I tried emailing them about it but they keep sending vague answers - if anyone has better luck please post it here for everyone! Thanks and good luck

I don't have any official information, but this sounds right after the experience I had with trying to pm the Alphabet Pal. Target has so many exclusions to their price matching policy (including door busters and limited time sales) that I really think of it more as a gimmick now instead of a legitimate opportunity to save.

I went to Target tonight to get the Leap Frog Alphabet Pal and in the midst of getting that fiasco taken care of, I asked about buying the week of Thanksgiving and getting the BF ad and seeing it on sale in the ad. They told me that for BF they will only PM 7 days out. So I would have to go the week before BF or after, then go in on BF with the ad and receipt and they will do an adjustment.

The offficial word from corporate today on this is a resounding no, I spoke with two different people this afternoon. Their new price match policy is certainly lacking. There are so many exceptions (they just added timed events, such as doorbusters to this list today) that I really don't understand the point of even offering this to consumers.

Oh well that answers my question as to why when I was online this morning door busters weren't excluded but at the last Target I went to they had the print out stating they were!

You know what I find the most funny about Target's PM. I read an article where they (Target) said during their trial run of PM in select areas they had very few people doing price matches, which they concluded was because their prices were already the best. So here they go and implement a policy with so many exclusions that it really is not a PM policy. So when people don't use it I bet they'll still assume its because their prices are so great, not that their policy is way too limited. Oh well.

DH ended up in town again today for an errand.......to his surprise the alphabet caterpillars were on the shelf at target ( I knew right then something was wrong because this was late in the evening)......he went to the CS desk to do price matching and was told NO.......and they actually showed him a list of things they won't PM.........such as timed sales, door buster sales etc. The list of exclusions was ridiculous.

Target can do a price adjustment on black friday if you buy an item in the ad ahead of time ( i think its within 14 days but i would do 7 just to be safe) but you have to have purchased it at target and then when it goes on sale that day you can go get the adjustment. We did it last year and were the only people at guest services so it went very quickly. As for price matching other stores, theyve never been good with this and its definately not even worth trying in my opinion.

Amen!!! You've said it all!!!!! Shame on Target and I plan to let them know. Think it's time to move on to more customer-friendly stores. Oh, well...
