    HOT Absolutely done with target!!!!!!!

I have shopped at Target for the last time today, no matter what kinds of deals they have....NO MORE!!! I have been couponing there (Butler, PA location) for the past 3 months or so. Each time I go there, their policy has changed, a total of 6 times in the 3 month period. First, no limit, then 5 coupons, then 4 coupons, then 4 like "items", not coupons, and so on. So I call corporate and explain the situation. They told me that as long as I'm not buying 30 of something and clearing the shelves, there IS NO LIMIT. They assured me that this would not happen again and if it did, I was to tell the cashier to suspend my transaction and go to customer service and have them get corporate on the red phone. So today, I go to the checkout and as I am approaching the checkout line, the manager spies me, as he does every time I go in and use coupons, and he comes over and stands by the clerk as she rings my coupons. I had 5 of each of the candle holders and refills, and 5 bags of Chef Michael's Dog Food (today the limit was apprently 5 coupons). He starts going through my coupons and first tells me that I can't use both the Target coupon and the manufacturer coupon for the dog food, and of course, I knew I could. He laid them out and counted them (twice) insisting that I had too many. When he finally realized he was wrong, he let the clerk continue. I paid and got my gift card for the glade. Then I had a second transaction with just the glade candle holders and the refills. He once again, went through all 10 coupons and handed me back 5, saying I couldn't use both coupons. I told him that he just took the same coupons for the same items 30 seconds before that without an issue!!!! After several minutes of arguing, I told them to suspend my transaction and I was going to customer service to call corporate. He got his supervisor to come over and of course she sided with him. So I go over to customer service and as I'm waiting in line, he shows up over there and stands behind the counter with that clerk. There was no way I was going to get into it with corporate while he listened, so I went to the car and called. I was put on hold while they called the store. Basically, they said the manager has the right to do whatever they want to do and wouldn't do anything about it. I asked to speak with the same girl I spoke with before about this and they would not connect me. I told them that at this point, it's nothing shy of harrassment, but they didn't seem to care. I asked for the district manager and / or regional manager's telephone number and they refused to give it to me. For the last and final time, I AM DONE shopping there!!!! It's definitely not worth being singled out each and every time I go in the store, like I'm a shoplifter or something. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I just wanted to not only vent, but save anybody else in Butler, PA the aggravation and embarrassment.

Ugh, I am always so thankful my Target has been amazing about coupons after a rough patch with the Target internet Qs awhile back. Other than one printed Target Q of each type per transaction they are wonderful. In fact I bought candles, oil candle holders and refills just this morning along with some other things. Spent .30, saved over $100. Had to pay off the nice man behind me who was just trying to pick up ginger ale for his pregnant wife and spent 20mins in line behind me...hope she liked the bag of Glade he brought home....

Yep CS gives a different answer every time you call. My last phone call ended something like this
me "I am glad the economy has improved so much that you can run off customers who are legitimately using coupons that you get reimbursed for 100% " and with that I hung up. I have not gone back! I have had it too!

Yeah, he told me how "sorry he was" for the service I received. I said, "Well, apparently you're not THAT sorry or you would remedy the situation!!!", and I hung up as well. And before that when he wouldn't give me a district or regional manager's contact info, I asked if he would have THEM call ME, and he said he would note it, but didn't know if they would actually do it. Yeah, NOW THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Oh that really stinks about that Target! I have one in my area I avoid because of how horrible it is with coupons too! But thankfully there are more around in my area. I looked on the map and if you live closer to Pittsburgh there are a lot of Targets around there maybe you can go to one of them there instead?

I'm sorry you had issues , sometimes you get employees who act like your ripping Target off! I've found that checking out thru the garden center affords me less headaches when couponing...usually only one register is open and they take your q's and don't give you issues..tonight I went to Target and they accidentally had the signs still up on the B2g1 Wii video games...I bought three wii games for 85.xx I thought I'd missed the deal but someone not doing their job netted me a free game. I pushed them on it and they gave it to me. The guy said oh great and you have a coupon to! I said yeppers now ring me up buddy! lol........

 I find it so annoying when things like that happen to me. One day at Kohl's I had two coupons and wanted to do two transactions. The coupons I had said one per transaction, not "one per customer." The cashier was irate and tried to tell me that the coupon was intended one per customer per lifetime. I am not exaggerating--he literally said per lifetime. I could not help but laugh. I told him that was ridiculous. But, what I wanted to say was "You idiot! I am just going to walk out, come back in and go to another register. What are you gonna do arrest me for coming back in the store to use my coupon."

TKS-I can see how you would feel so frustrated.
    That is just crazy-making.
Good thing you are so bright that you can see they DON"T WANT to work this out, and refuse to put any more energy into it, and refuse to communicate/deal with these uncooperative people again.

Where do you plan to go to get the products that you used to get at Target?
The reason I ask is we have 3 Wags in my small farming community, and each store is a little different, but not nearly as obnoxious.

I noticed you joined in June of this year. How has it affected your thoughts on couponing?

My local Target is EXACTLY like this too! It drives me crazy. I had my last standoff with the whole glade issue when the ignorant manager told me I couldn't use a BOGO and a $$ off q together. It's just insanity how misinformed retail employees can be...it's really sad how poorly trained they are...all the way up through upper management.

You may just want to take a short break from Target for a few weeks maybe a month. Target is the most difficult store to get assistance from upper mgmt. Customer service will side with the store manager or whoever is calling the shots. It is frustrating dealing with such inconsistent policies. I've had my share of bad experiences from Walgreens, Walmart, Target and the local grocery chain.

The time I stayed away was not more than a few weeks. I went back and though some employees/mgrs may "remember" me...they can't stop me from shopping there! Take this as a learning experience. Take your time finding the employee that is most coupon friendly, smile, be gracious, and although it may be difficult, try to respect their "policies" as best as you can, even when you know you're right!
