HOT Target - Coupon Policy: One coupon per purchase

*Please Move if not in right place*

So I just went to Target to purchase the glade candles and realized I forgot to get refill with my BOGO coupon. I went back inside to customer service and asked if they could reverse the transaction for me so that I could get the refills. I had five coupons and had just purchased five candles. She looked at the BOGO coupon and said that because it said one coupon per purchase they would have to do each candle and refill in a seperate transaction, which is not what I want because of the $5 GC. I tried to explain that I would be PURCHASING 5 refills with 5 coupons so that should be ok but she told me I would be committing coupon fraud by trying to do it all at once. Funny cause the cashier I had JUST gone to did all 7 coupons for my 7 items at once...I just called Corporate to get their take and the first rep I spoke with said yes, that is correct. I called again just to double check and that rep said no, that was not correct so he transferred me to someone to help fix it and she then told me that they had a new policy stating that "One coupon per purchase" and "One coupon per transaction" mean the same thing. And that they should not let you use more than one manufacturer's coupon per transaction...Is anyone else coming across this?!? She said they are in the process of notifying all of their stores of this new procedure. I think that is CRAZY!! If I want to use 20 coupons I need to do 20 transactions?!? Frustrating...

I totally understand with the Target coupons saying one per transaction that they need to be seperate, but these were regular Manufacturer's coupons that say one per purchase...I was just irritated with them....

I think it's ridiculous as well unless the mfg coupon specifically states "one coupon per purchase per person" or something to that effect. They've tried that one coupon per purchase with me in the past and I call corporate and usually get it straightened out. I will not shop at Target anymore if that's the case and they enforce it. It will just not be worth my time.

They seem to like making up their own policies, don't they? :shrug7:
"One per purchase" and "one per transaction" do NOT mean the same thing. Oh brother. Target is frustrating, I agree. Sorry you had to deal with this. Can you go to another Target in your area?

I don't know if this would help or not, but you might want to print out one of Target's coupons from their website and show them the wording on the two coupons. Then have them explain the difference between one per purchase and one per transaction. Sometimes, when cashiers see it like that a "bell" goes off.

It seems to me like it gives the manger power to make up such stupid policy, they don't care if it makes them look really stupid. The policy changes every day. I went today to buy 22 of the same item and ask her how many coupons i can use in one transaction she said it didn't matter. The register took all the coupoons without a problem. I went a week ago and they said one per transaction and one per day I am pretty sure it was the same manger on duty. It such a game to them I think they have bets on how long couponers will fight for what is right.

Thumbs Down Re: Target - Coupon Policy: One coupon per purchase

The same thing has happend to me. When trying to use two of the same manu cpn for two purchases. The team leader said one per transacation. Target has all these buy so many get a 5-10 gift card. But make a fuss when you try to save. Is this the Corp policy or the stores? You will get a differnt answer each time you call the copr number. So sad..
