I just had the trip to Target from H*LL.

I was purchasing 5 tins and 5 refills. I handed them five of the $1.50 off coupons. First I got the argument that says that I can only use one coupon per purchase, therefore I can only use one coupon for all ten items.

I patiently attempted to explain the difference between purchase and transaction for 10 minutes. Then when the manager came over, they said that the coupon says right on it "Do Not Double" :hectic1:

so that proved their point that I could only use one for the whole transaction. When I said I wanted them to call corporate, then they said I could use the 5 $1.50 so that we wouldn't tie up the line any longer and I would not have to wait. After they scanned those 5 couons, I handed them the coupons I had been holding in my hand for the buy one candle get one refill for free.
Then the cashier turned blue and got all upset and said you can't use two coupons on the same item because you'll get it for free. I explained that I wasn't using two coupons for the same item, that the $1.50 coupons were for the candle and that the "free" coupons were for the refills. He said, but the "free" coupon says you can use it for a free refill or for a free candle. I said yes, but I'm not using it on the candle, I'm using it on the refill. He said since it said I could use it on the candle that it was a BOGO so I could only use one coupon. I explained that he might have a valid argument if I had gotten 10 candles (I didn't want to fight that fight) but that since I had gotten refills instead, it was not an issue. Manager got called again and he sided with cashier.
Now, after 20 minutes I call corporate to try to straighten this out. Corporate not only agrees with me, but they call the store to explain. After 15 minutes of arguing between corporate and the manager, corporate finally gives in and tells me that their employees are incapable of understanding and can they just send me a gift card for a few dollars for my trouble. I didn't really know how to explain to Corporate that this was not really a fair trade off, since if they had honored the deal I would have $25.00 in free merchandise, plus $5.00. I did not interpret "a few dollars" as equaling the $30.00 that I had just struggled for approximately 45 minutes to get on the deal.
In the end I gave in and gave corporate my address for the gift card and left.:shrug7:
Any opinions on what I should have done instead of leaving. Basically, I felt like he was saying that the Target employees were too stupid to get it. At some point shouldn't corporate just tell the employees: " You're wrong, so just do it?"
