Default Target: Wouldn't take my coupons!

The cashier and manager at my Target this morning gave me lots of problems using my coupons. They told me that I can only get the amount that the product is taken off not the amount specified on the coupon. Example - Coupon for $2.00 off 2 products. Product was on sale for .68 each. Would only take $1.36 off.

Another thing I have had problems getting the cashier to ring all of my coupons. This has happened the last 2 x's I've been. Ugh! Today was the worst. I had a huge cart full of groceries that should have been $5 tops. It was $40. I didn't have the $ for that so I asked for all my coupons back and left. It was horrible...........I felt bad because I wasted all that time for nothing.

Target does state that they will price adjust a coupon down to the amount of the items in their coupon policy.

Sorry about the hard time~

Hi Michelle!

So sorry you had an unsuccessful trip to Target today! It's really frustrating to plan out a shopping trip and then leave empty handed. Hope you next attempt goes better!

I know exactly what product & coupon the 2/$2 ones. I've used tons and gotten both overage and had it reduced down. Today I had a MANAGER tell me that it wasn't on the picture and started yelling at me.... uhhh okey...

I can definately relate, I went in today and they wouldn't take my coupon for the free glade refill when you buy the glad candle holder because it was a printable and the computer beeped they said it was fraudulent because they weren't in color. Then they proceeded to tell me since I had already gotten 22 ceasar bistro dog food for free, i had enough items for free and technically they shouldn't have allowed me all of those. I'm so done with target

must've been something in the air!
New cashier tonight told me I couldn't use 2 cpns on 1 product. Tried
to explain that one 1 was Target and the other was a Mfr. She just didn't get it.
I said fine I will go to the svc desk and then she got on the phone- got off and
told me to enter my pin. I thought she was calling a csm- as I left a csm approached
with change for her. Went to the svc desk she calls for the csm, csm knows what she
is asking about. Svc desk person states she can only give me $2 per cpn ???
The cpns are $4 each, she can't give an explanation as to why. So I returned them..
1 cpn should've been 3.86 and the other at $4.
And the kicker is that they didn't question the $2 Target Purina ONE with the $3 mfr cpn.

Wow, they really need to get their stuff together. Target is starting to sound like K-mart now with all the different rules you hear from different people. My Target is pretty decent, except the last time I went when I had a guy who usually works at night. He had worked there for 10 years and never saw anyone use both a MQ and a TQ....Anyway, hope you guys do better next time.

That's why I keep saying -- even if you haven't had any problems yet at Target -- Print out the coupon policy and put it in your binder. Eventually you will encounter resistant cashiers/csms and you can simply whip out your copy of the policy and prove them wrong. It's so much easier than trying to call customer service, etc.

showing them there own policy might do you no good. I had mine and they wouldn't adjust down at all. They just want to do what they want to do and never mind what the policy says.

So, they adjust the coupon down and then get reimbursed for the full value of the coupon plus 8 cents for handling. Sounds like a good deal for Target, not so good for the coupon user.
