I was at Target yesterday and the lady in front of me had re-useable bags and they gave her a 0.05 cent credit for each bag she used.

The cashier scaned a barcode next to the register. It does not matter what the bag says, it can be a Target bag, Walgreens bag, whatever they will give you the credit.

This is new so make sure the cashier scans the barcode.

In Little Rock the Chenal Pkwy location is already giving the bag credit, did not specify what type of bag is to be used.

North Little Rock McCain location will begin offering the bag credit in October. The person I spoke to actually read the announcement over the phone (she couldn't remember what it said), and what she read does specify Target reusable shopping bags only for the credit. The bags can be purchased and used for the credit in the same transaction, or they can be Target bags you bring in with you.

I'm going to email corporate and see if I can get a copy of the policy... I'll let you know what I find out!

I would offer them to others on Freecycle, donate to shelters, churches, etc. rather than throwing them out......

my target just started this ( i think this week?) and they didnt tell me they had to be *target* bags, i got the discount the other day using bags my mom made for me



throw away a shopping bag??? omg no way!!!!! if i have too many to use for shopping (i have 4 that i use ALL THE TIME) and about 15 or so others, they get used for storing stuff, gifts, one is a designated *go to thrift store donation* bag, there are plenty of uses for them without having to throw them away

I do use them for storage, trash bags, etc. I ran out of usages for them and I'm sorry but I can't stand clutter, even organized clutter. I have a cabinet full of those bags.

Now that I know I can take them to Target I will do that.

Next time I go to Target, which will be Saturday, I will ask to see if my target is participating. Hopefully. It would be a GREAT way to get people to use less plastic bags!
