I just got back from Target and I bought a backpack (75% off) and they gave me the bag credit, because we filled up the backpack! My Target does not care what the bag says.

that's great, but target bags are the only bags I actually like! we use the plastic ones for our trash can so that i don't have to buy them. i wonder how long before stores will go the other way and start charging us to use their bags?

I think we may be talking about two different types of bags: the disposable plastic kind (great for trash can liners) and reusable cloth(ish) kinds (great for groceries that don't slip and slide in the trunk).

I think the Target credit would be for the re-usable kind, but who knows? If it's plastic and you re-use it, maybe that should count!

i know, I was saying how much i like the target plastic ones. with the reusable bag credit, i would not get them, the only ones i actually like/want.

Yeah, it's a catch 22. I was bringing my own (trader joes) bags everywhere, but then I had to actually buy garbage bags. So now, I forgo the reusables at Target, I need the free trash bags. I do use my Trader Joes bags everywhere else though. I guess the only alternative is composting... living in hot, humid, bug ridden S. Florida makes composting very unappealing to me.

I also think that Target's plastic bags are the best. I use all my plastic shopping bags for dirty diapers and Targets are the biggest and sturdiest. However, I try to use reusable bags until my other stash is low. I've been getting a .05 credit at the grocery store for a while now.

I absolutely LOVE my Target bags. They fit my trash can in the kitchen perfectly. Other store's grocery bags are too small. But Target bags are bigger and they fit the can. Just flop over the handles. I haven't bought trash bags in ages.

Send all Target bags to me! LOL

Huh? The OP said re-usable bags, like the canvas-y kind. Are we all on the same page here?

Yes, Target bags are the best. With 3 cats we use at least 8 or 9 bags per week for trash bags. I do prefer the Target bags, but they are more wasteful because of the thicker, heavier plastic.
Since I can't ever to remember to use my re-useables at every store I go to, I still accumulate just enough to keep my above needs supplied. I would never buy small trash bags - If I actually ran out, I would just "forget" my bags for a few trips.
