cute
Hi everyone. Another interesting trip to Target. This time, the cashier was crying at the register before I even got there (didn't do a thing, I SWEAR). I didn't even recognize her so it couldn't have been me. I asked her if she had allergies and she said no, so I didn't go there. By the end of my transaction I had her laughing - (how bipolar is that)?
No offense to anyone, I am perhaps on the way too empathic side, but how is it that Target seems to drive their cashiers to the brink? Is it all of the great merchandise they get to watch others buying all day long? For the love of all that's good and holy in the world, Target will you please get your cashier's the help they need and deserve!
On a positive note, she just scanned and kept scanning all 20 of my frozen Kashi Q's. I'll take a crying cashier any day if you just SCAN BABY SCAN!!!
Disclaimer: This request is not intended to offend you or your great, great, great grandchildren, sensitive readers, non-Target shoppers who don't have a clue what I mean or anyone else who may be reading and is now in tears themselves.
A little humor couldn't hurt, could it???

people who think they have power and over react to everything..... need a big
I worked there for about 5 minutes. Well.. I think it was a week, really. They were really pushy about card signups and surveys (those ones that print out at the bottom of the receipt). The computer actually grades you on how fast you complete transactions. Zero training...they pretty much just expect you to figure it. And it was always a different manager, so it was hard to know what was right or wrong, when they each had different ways of wanting things done. I've worked retail before, but that just wasn't for me.
I remember working at target.......as a cashier......during the Christmas rush.......the line was backed up so far it was seriously unbelievable. I had taken SO much bull crap and the last straw was this obnoxious rude lady customer. I left my lane, walked out of the store and never returned. Enough was enough.
I worked at Target in High School. I LOVED my job BUT, it didnt start out that way. I started there in May on the sales floor. 1 week before thanksgiving they put me on cashier, i was scheduled 3 days that week...monday, wednesday and black friday. Mind you I was 16 years old! first "real" job I ever had...so come friday morning my CSM looked at me and said "well girly you either sink or swim today" that was the craziest day of my life!!! But I did make it and I went on to work there for almost 2 years. After that day I usually worked Customer Service. I honestly loved working there. I was so sad when I had to quit to go to school...Now I work in Health Care with the elderly and while i LOVE my job, some days i wish i could go back to the easy life of retail.

I worked for Target for almost 3 years, as Loss Prevention. They are extremely pushy about Target Cards, speed of checkout and Surveys. Sometimes to the point of writing people up for not getting people to sign up for the Cards or not being fast enough on the register. That is why some cashiers will suspend your transaction while you write a check, or count out your money. They don't want to get too slow of a transaction time. Being a cashier there can be stressful because of this.

Do we know for sure it was Target that made her cry? Maybe her dog died that day?
How sad! My last trip to Target ended similarly. When I got in line, I realized that a manager was yelling at the cashier whose line I'd just gotten in. By the time I got to the the cashier (about 5 min later), she wasn't crying, but she looked like she wanted to. We got to talking, and it turned out she'd been yelled at for denying a customer something that she'd gotten in trouble for accepting when she'd first started. She was just following the directions she'd been given when she'd first started because she'd been told she'd lose her job if she did it again. Turned out the rules had changed since then and she hadn't been told. So, the manager VERY unprofessionally yelled at her in front of all us customers. Long story short, she was laughing by the time I left. I felt awful for her and told her that the manager should have approached the situation entirely differently. (To begin with, she shouldn't have been reprimanded in front
of the customers!)
I'm glad some people have had good experiences working at Target. I have to admit, though, that based on what I've seen of the managers, at least, Target is not where I'd first look for employment if I needed a job!
I'm trading again, but sometimes it takes a few days for me to respond with an infant in the house!
