How are you getting the overage? Tried this at my target today and cashier & manager gave me a hard time. Said can only take price of product off.

Yup, It's a YMMV thing - more specifically, it just depends on the cashier. I had a huge order and a ton of Q's, so they just kept on scanning.....

Cashier refused my coupon for the Crystal Light 3 packs (.68 clearance, $2/2 coupon= free or overage) and told me I can't use a coupon if it makes the item free. Manager came over and told me the same thing. That was news to me! Hadn't been to Target in a while I guess.

Next time go right to the kiosk at cust service and print their coupon policy which clearly states they will adjust the coupon down to the price of the item.

I decided to start carrying a copy with me, after getting tired of telling the cashiers and managers what their policy is. Strangely enough, I haven't been challenged since I put it in my purse. I keep waiting for my chance to whip out that paper but it hasn't come yet.
