This stinks badly. Hate this happen to you. I stopped using these at Target for the same reason. It just wasn't worth the trouble.
Today I went to the Ottumwa Iowa store to get some of the Head and Shoulders, Tide, and All. I also got a few things for my DD school supplies. I was with a friend of mine and she was checking out in front of me. The cashier called over the front supervisor and asked about the coupons. This same lady I had problems with once before. She told me that she had to call CS and asked them about it just yesterday and also talked to their District manger about the issue with using coupons for trial size and the DM said that if it beeps don't take. I said to her that I have a letter from CS that states that the store is to adjust down the coupon to meet the price. She said that it is not meant to be used on them even tho it says "any size". I said that I will just give CS a call again and see what they say. She tells me ok, because I have a reference number also on this problem. My friend talks to CS on the phone while I look for the reference number. CS has her hand the phone to the FES and she uses MY phone for 34.01 mins. to get this taken care of. Just remember that all I wanted to do is get this cleared up so I know if I should even waste my time going into this store again to use my coupons for the items.
Well after getting off MY phone she hands it back to me and tells me that she will be right back. Less then a min. later a man walks over to us and rudely says that "we are not going to take YOUR coupons for this Items. I said ok that is all I wanted to know so I don't waste anyones time again on this. Again RUDELY he says that "SHE TOLD YOU 6 TIMES THAT WE WILL NOT TAKE THEM". Again I said that I just wanted to get this clear because you have Corp. saying one thing and you are saying something else and you don't need the attitude. The whole time I stayed calm and my voice down ( can't say that for my friend). I told him that Target gave me this coupon for "We are Sorry" coupon and that they can have it because I will not be back to use it if they are going to be like that.
So I leave and in the parking lot I just keep getting more upset so I call CS again about the treatment that I was given. I explain what happen and gave them the names of the employees involved. Again staying clam. Brian the CSR was very nice he even said that company's issue coupons for the trial size so you can try it. He asks me how many I had and I to him that I had about 30 items that had coupons. He then said that he is going to call the store and talk to the store manger and call me back. About 3 min. later I receive a call back from Brian. Brian tells me that because I am an excessive coupon user that I am banned from using coupons at that store. Oh they will let me shop there but not with coupons ... think not. I said to him that if they would have told me that I could only use a X number of coupons I would have said fine, but they didn't even tell me that.
So I want to know is where it is in their policy that states that you can only use X number of coupons and why is it not posted somewhere.
I was going through this so other that I know that are Coupon users will not have to go through this at this store and that it is all laid out for all. The FES said that she has told and posted all cashiers are NOT to take the coupons for ANY trial size no matter what the coupon says.

I had sanity once upon a time I promise. It was just so long agoooo that I can't remember it
.
I never shop at Target with coupons anymore. (in AZ) All I get is problems and attitude from the cashiers. I have had so many similar experiences, but last time I was told that after 30 or 40 coupons, they just have to have a manager override it and okay it is all. (Same at my Wal-mart)So you could do seperate transactions with fewer items or something.
Either way, I don't think they are very friendly to coupon users period. And it's not like THEY DON'T GET THEIR MONEY!
Good luck. I'd be grumpy.
I had problems at the Target I shop at with the q's on trial sizes as well. After 15 mins, they did allow me to use them, but honestly I have not bothered to try doing so again. Walmart pushes through the head and shoulders ones without a problem, but the tide beeps and they will not take it. That is too bad this happened to you,it seems to me that so many of the stores these days are not very q friendly. Most still treat ppl as if they are stealing, and that couponers are ruining the economy. I know that I always try to know the rules, but they are placing so many restrictions that it almost makes it not worth it.
The tide beeps because for some reason, the bar code numbers aren't even close, pretty much ALL P&G items start w/ 37000, not the single use Tide.
0_o? Geez...what a bunch of yucky people. :(
Are you kidding me??? An "excessive coupon user" ???
Oh I'd be FURIOUS!!! Honestly? I'd go even further than customer service. I'd go as high up in the chain of command as I could. The store gets money back for these coupons. Coupons ARE MONEY!! When are these people going to learn??
UGH!!!
I am furious for you!!
*excessive coupon users unite!*

I was talking to my DH about this post, and he suggested that perhaps an email or a phone call to the manufacturer might help. I mean just to let them know that the store will not honor the q's they put out for consumer use. It may not make a difference, but I doubt that it could hurt your situation.
Sounds to me like it's time to get the news involved! Can you imagine the headline
"Target kicks out woman for using coupons to save money"
