Default They wouldn't take my coupon!

I went to target today to use my $10 gift card (From the pharmacy deal) and I got a bunch of stuff for great deals. BUT I wanted to buy two coffee mate creamers @ $1.69 each (not on sale) and use two .50/1 coupons. But the cashier refused to let me buy more of one item and use two cpns.... I told her that one cpn was for one creamer, and one was for the other. But she wouldn't let me. I even told her to call the mgr and she said she would but they told her today that was a new policy. I didn't want to hold up the line for .50 so I only bought one creamer and saved my 2nd coupon. But what is the deal? :(

Target is becoming really UGLY with coupons. My ST tried telling me they can't except any "FREE" coupons, even the one from the inserts. I could understand IPs but actual insert coupons??? C'mon!!! Also they said if a coupon beeps, they can't accept it. Well I refuse to take that so anytime I know I will be using coupons, I am geared up for a fight, b/c I am always ready to call corp. right there IN the store.

It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

That sucks b/c they just finally built a Target in my city and I was sooo excited b/c I hate going to Walmart. But now I'm king of bummed b/c I hate to have to fight everytime I go there. Especially w/ a baby in tow. After finding all the items that match my cpns & entertaining my child I am usually ready to get out of there by the time I reach the check out counter!

They are also one of the only stores that actually do charge sales tax on the pretaxed amount. If there are deals that cost just a smidge more elsewhere, I just use the coupons there to save the tax.

That's so funny..... they ALWAYS try to say that they were just told today... sometimes I get the response of "well they are going to be changing the coupon policy soon", I even had one employee at a store that I don't usually go to try to tell me they do not take IPs and try to refuse a TARGET coupon, but I agree, lately Target has been very coupon unfriendly and refusing more than one "like" coupon. They are very confused on the "One Per Purchase and One Per Transaction thing". I had one front lanes supervisor try to tell me that "purchase" and "transaction" were the same thing. By the time I got home from that shopping trip I sooooo wanted to take a dictionary back to the store with me!
Bottom line, if you are in the right, stand your ground!

Other stores in your area don't? If that's the case, you should check your local/state laws. In Illinois, we are taxed on the pre coupon amount (and it figures that I have to live in the highest taxed county in the state ), unless they are store coupons.

computation of sales tax may vary per state. I know that when I shopped at WAG in Grapevine, TX and used a mfr coupon to get an item free, my total came up to 0.00. it turned out, they charge tax after coupon amount. so if you find an item on sale and you have a coupon to match the sale price, you pay zero

Yes, but the PP said that Target DOES charge preQ tax & other stores don't--which means that if it's law that Target's not supposed to be charging tax, they're gonna be in trou--ble

Oh! Let's play who has the highest sales tax! NYC just raised its sales tax, so our total sales tax increased from 8.375% to 8.875%. What's your local sales tax rate?

Oh, and we also get taxed on pre-coupon amount. I didn't really realize some areas didn't do that.
