Default Is there supposed to be protective wrapper on the Edy's quarts?

I bought two of the 1.5 qts last night and noticed there was no protective wrapper around the top and nothing covering the ice cream once I opened it. I'm thinking this is the norm but I just want to make sure.

I don't recall ever seeing a protective wrapper on those. I get them with Breyer's but not Edys.

I've not seen them on Dreyers (which is Edys in the North). They are on Tillamook or Breyers though.

Edy's does not come with any protective wrapping. I think it should, but I guess that's beside the point.
