Yes, they were insisting that cpon is only for the item pictured.
Now if I call TG corporate what can they do? I just called Rayovac corp but it didn't help much. I wished they had sent me an email saying it is for ANY size pack...

My response to "we can't give it to you for free" is usually something like, "You're not giving it to me for free. I'm paying for it with this piece of paper. You will be receiving $0.50 for this item from Rayovac."

I have never found the manufacturers to be especially helpful. They can tell you what they intended for the coupon, but they always leave it up to the stores to decide what the store will and won't accept. If you call Target corporate, they may or may not contact the store and explain to the manager that "any" means any. They may, however, just say it's up to the local store to decide what they accept.

My sister and I had trouble at one Target because the batteries were marked down to .70 a two pack. But finally they adjusted the coupon to .70 and let my sister by them. I was ticked off at that point so I didn't even bother getting mine. They wouldn't take the $1/1 ANY Dove face product coupon for the trial face wipes. So I cut my order in half and handed the basket to the cashier saying "this is what I won't be buying today".

Now last night was a completely different story. I went to the Target near me and had no problem getting the cashier to accept my coupons. I got 9 of the batteries and 10 of the Dove. She put my coupons thru at full value and I got the overage applied to my holiday clearance items. My cashier was amazed at my shopping skills and happy for me.
You can give a horse a coupon, but you can't make it save.

I agree. There have been countless occassions where I've presented coupons just for their scanner to beep needlessly. In regard to the batteries, I went to 1 Target when they were priced @ .70 and they gave me the most pressing time with the coupons. So I left them there and tried again at another store today. Now they're .50 each, and my cashier had no problems taking them, however yet again they beeped. She pushed them through. Also she mentioned that some coupons have 2 barcodes, therefore they beep in their system, when that's the case, she covers the one with the stripe in the middle of the barcode with her hand and scans the other one. Still won't work. She pushed it thru anyway. I just had to get rid of those and get my free batteries. I probably have over 60 packs I think. Target is such a nuissance, I'm thinking of ending my shopping there if it concerns coupons, the stress it causes is just not worth it in my opinion.

Had the same problem yesterday, i tried to buy the batteries but b/c they were marked down to .50 cents, the cashier wouldn't let me use it. I told her that she could adjust the coupon price down and she wouldn't, so i took out their coupon policy that i now keep in my purse at all times and she then called someone to do it. The lady told me that i could get it for free but they won;t give me money back. I told her i know and that i asked her to adjust it down. Then that same lady told me that i can use only one coupon per transaction. I let it go, although i know that it's not the case but that was mainly because i didn't want to cause a bigger scene b/c as is there were like 4 people at the register. They are so embaressing sometimes. When i went home i read the coupon carefully and it said one per transaction. I think i'll just wait for it to go back to regular price and then buy it to avoid the hassle

I had the same problem today, I got them for $0.5 from the dollar spot and they beeped. The cashier was nice and said IDK why they are beeping, I didn't bother, just said that's ok, I will just keep them for something else and took the coupons back. I had saw on here that ppl were having trouble using them and I knew it was going to be a hit or miss thing.

I went to Target tonight armed with my original *any* Rayovac Qs, my mom came along, brought my mom along, and we each getting 10pks with 10 Qs.
I thought I was all prepared, no ink to print the coupon policy, but I read and reread everything about the Rayovac/Target issues and was sure I had an answer for anything.

So I hand the cashier my Qs, she asks how many, and says she'll have to call for approval because I have so many.
Manager comes over, and she points out that they're $1 Qs, but the batteries are only .50, manager agrees - I point out that their corporate policy is to adjust the coupon down, and the manager agrees.

Then he decides that they've been having problems with these coupons being fraudulent, fair enough, I offer to show him in the office they actual rayovac site where they come from, so we can both see that they're legit.

Then one of them starts pointing out the UPC #s on the bottom, and that they're all the same (duh) - and that no, if they were valid Qs, there would be different sequencing #s on each one - I was debating explaining how many millions of identical Qs are printed in each Sunday's paper, and how very, very long the UPC would be on each one if they all had unique #s, not to mention that it was not limited to one print, so of course they were identical.

They were both VERY nice throughout this, which I appreciated - they kept pointing out that they knew *I* wasn't being fradulent, it was somebody at the company (rayovac?) putting up bad coupons.

The manager then went back to all the trouble they've had with this coupon and a Hane's printable (dunno why that was relevant),He the that they're not taking either one, as they do have the right to refuse any particular Q as they see fit.

I figured I couldn't really argue with that last one, and it was a holiday and I wasn't getting anywhere, so I just had her void the batteries out.

It was pretty late, guest services wasn't in, and he seemed to be the highest level manager there - but I'm wondering if I should try calling a corporate #, if they could convince that store that the Qs are legit, or if the whole thing is just at their discretion?

Sorry to write a whole book, just kinda at a loss.

    TIA!

I have noticed in the past year that any time I use a c/o that is over $2 or that the amt. of the c/o is more than the amt. of the product that the registers beep. I would fathom a guess that it has been programmed into their system to warn them of this fact. The bar code has info. that matches to products from that mfg. Usually the clerk can adjust the price of c/o to the sale price or override the system for the full c/o amount. I had a situation where I was purchasing 2 products that were similar but with different amounts. I had 2 c/o's of different values as well. When I handed the clerk the c/o's the lesser value c/o was scanned first and the 2nd higher value c/o beeped. I only had the 2 products. After we verified the c/o's matched the products the clerk pointed out they were the same mfg., credited everything off and rerang using the higher value c/o first and nothing beeped. Logic would be that since the barcode includes $ amt. of c/o it cannot find a match if the product price is less than c/o amt. Now when I go to the store and the c/o beeps I hesitate to see what the clerk does, if they override it I proceed with my order. If it beeps and the clerk isn't going to figure it out I explain that it has to be adjusted to the price of the product. I would prefer the overage but I will be happy to take free, lol. I try to stand my ground, politely, and wait for a manager who generally will override the c/o to the adjusted amount. It doesn't always work but more often than not I get it handled that way. Hope that makes sense. I've also been known to take my VERY chatty 70+ yo mother with me if I have a lot of overage c/o's. She doesn't c/o but loves receiving all the free and cheap products so is more than happy to help out on those occasions. It's amazing what clerks and managers will do to move things along and it doesn't bother her in the least to hold up a line chatting away til she gets what she wants!!

This best desribes my story of shopping at stores these days.
