Default Target printables x07/07/08 (GE Instant-On CFL)

This showed up on the main Target.com page...

GE Energy Smart Instant On mini light bulb, 10 or 13 watt - $2/1 - x07/07/08

and to the generator.

I checked these out at Target today. 10W is comparable to a 40W incandescent. 13W is like a 60W. These are $5.49 for a single bulb (before coupons). There are lots of GE Energy Smart multipacks, but they are NOT the Instant-On variety. The Instant-On variety have half the expected life of the regular GE Energy Smart CFL.

You can get a $1/1 manufacturer's coupon (for any GE CFL) to go with this: http://www.hotcouponworld.com/forums...cfl-bulbs.html

Thank you so much for posting the mq ip! I just recently bought a few of these for our living room lamps, and plan on eventually replacing most of the bulbs in the house with them too. My mom has been using them for some time, and she loves them.

A small caution: these contain a small amount of mercury - so if one should break, be sure to sweep (not vacuum) up the shards and open a window if you can. And dispose of them properly broken or not.

What does this mean? Should they not go in the garbage? Recycle? How?

I was curious about this myself so I did a search. Here's what the GE company website says: GE Consumer & Industrial Lighting: Ask Us: FAQs - Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

(I hope it's okay to post the link)

This site led me to Earth 911 » Making Every Day Earth Day, Reduce, Reuse & Recycle, Green Lifestyle
They have all kinds of information on recycling and
I have been wanting to do this for quite some time.
You can find places that accept your recyclables by putting in
your zip code. Also help with sorting your plastics etc.
Thanks for the lead Andra!

I think I heard that Ikea and maybe Home Depot(??) will take the CFL bulbs for recycling. I'm trying to think where I heard it, and I want to say Rachel Ray's tv show or Good Morning America the other day. But they also said that in the long run, regular light bulbs produce more mercury than the CFL's have in them. Definitely something to research, but either way they seem much better for the environment over the long run, you just have to be careful with them. It hasn't stopped me from investing in them!
