I tried buying several trial size items tonight and the checker had to call for help when the coupons wouldn't work. They said it was against their policy to accept a coupon that would result in the item being free. Any suggestions?

Write to Target asking for the coupon policy. They will send you something like this. (You can print that one out, but it's dated 6 months ago so the store may give you grief over that)

Bullet #3 is "-We can't give cash back if the face value of a coupon is greater than the purchase value of the item; in that case, we'll adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item."

I would tell the Manager/cashier to wait just a moment while I call their corporate customer service line. Also suggest that they "turn off the light at this register" because it may be a while.
I am sick of wasting my time shopping and then not getting the items - then going home, calling CS, then having to go back and gather all the items again.
I have done this 2 times and has worked great. It really backs up their check out lines, but it lets them know they cannot bully me into submission.
